  1. Fire in the fireplace, bourbon and wine, gear on...let's go Indiana!
  2. First time evah...score change: KSU 62 Indiana 80 I'd like to thank the academy for this award...
  3. Indiana is one NC Championship banner away from being elite again. When IU's team and coaches win multiple tough games in a row and give a constant refuse to lose attitude, then IU might be considered among the elite. When IU shows an offense that can consistently beat other teams showing varying defenses like zones and rebounding edge, then IU might be considered among the elite. It would really be nice to have a couple of ball handlers that could play PG at an elite level. I could go on...about shooting, defense, taking advantage of matchups, high basketball IQs....
  4. Seems that you are more accurate than me on this point. Might just be the lack of leadership on the team. We may need upperclassmen that refuse to lose and get in the faces of players. I recently read the RMK statement that went somewhat like this: You aren't here at Indiana to play basketball. You are here to win.
  5. Set the Waybac Machine to 1976 and 1977. That team had players on it that refused to lose.
  6. A couple of thoughts about this season. It is sure a good thing for the season-long improvements of the team to have great competition early rather than a surprise in the B1G conference games. Secondly, it is not surprising that many get caught up in the hype of the early opinions that are not grounded in reality. Finally, many of us realized that shooting from the three-point line, free throw percentages, lack of toughness on the road, excitable and questionable PG play, and inside one-dimensional play might just be an impediment to learning how to win tough games. The wish is to improve throughout the season. And they likely will. I will continue to predict that IU wins most games even if they are predicted by others to not win. It is not that I am blinded or see through rose-colored glasses. It is because "It's Indiana"! And I think that it is more fun to be pro IU than like some others that post on here only when things get tough. I will not gloss over the negatives. I just won't dwell on them. I enjoy the game and am glad that Coach Woodsen is here. Maybe, in the KS game, KS got lucky early and our guys got demoralized and didn't close on some shots. That would take the wind out of my sails. The rest was a slog uphill. I was hoping early on that IU would win 2 of the four. They did. Have a great holiday season with you and yours. Remember to help those less fortunate.
  7. I am concerned about each and every game. For instance, against KS... Does IU match up well with Kansas? How is TJD's back? Can IU handle TJD being doubled? Is XJ back in fighting form? Is Race going to handle his assignment on defense? Is Race going to break out on offense? Can IU's defense stiffen especially against KS's wings? Does KS's PG turnover the ball and get stopped? What did JHS look like in the practice held Thursday? Will JHS play in mid-season fashion or will he be somewhat rusty? Can IU take this game played on the road at KS? Will the bench excel? Will 3's drop in the bucket? What is up with TJD's off hand? Will Woody tell the zebras what he is really thinking? By how many points will IU win? Will Indiana ever start winning regularly on the road against very good teams? Inquiring minds...
  8. Indiana 73 J Hacks 72 Will JHS be up to speed. Inquiring minds want to know.
  9. What's the latest on JHS? Really impacts my prediction. If JHS is out IU wins by 2. If JHS is in IU wins by 3! But, I feel good about it. (Amended per post above...get well JHS>) If JHS is in fighting trim, which would be a miracle...IU wins by 9! If any of the above happens...GO IU! Rare Breed Bourbon on a few rocks. Fire in the fireplace. IU gear on. I'm so very ready to see a good game.
  10. Yeah, possibly enigma haze or ectoplasm lethargy. Maybe it's the shoes. The cure is to hit 2 3's in a row. That or get a double double.
  11. Arizona is so very messed up. They have run out of water. The state fish is the sun-dried trout. Their future water supply program consists of tapping the Saguaro Cactus. The Hoover Dam doesn't hold back water anymore. Birds fall out of the sky over Arizona as they attempt to migrate...due to a lack of food and water. The Petroglyph is their main source of news. The PGA and Cactus League used to be fun before they installed the AstroTurf. The Grand Canyon is where they place solid waste. The source of Soylent Green is Sun City...just do not stop moving. Sean Miller was smart enough to finally leave. Steve Alford and RMK were smart enough to never go there in the first place. I won't even describe that big elephant carcass thingy. Indiana 81 Arizona 79
  12. I was at IU when George McGinnis played in the old Field House.
  13. Some do not recognize the defense that Rutgers has.
  14. I have Hulu...get all the ESPN+ on basic.
  15. Rutgers is near elite in their defense. Give them credit. And the zebras and our being rattled... We need Shifino
  16. Indiana is red hot '76 undefeated Rutabaga is diddly squat 67 Both teams exhibit decent defenses. Rutgers lost Ron Harper Jr. And Rutgers can't keep their 3 performers returning from last year on the court at one time. That results in their offense being not as good. If IU's defense travels, IU protects the ball, IU hits free throws, IU wins in the paint, and if Xavier and Geronimo keep their heads...IU wins by a bunch. Let's hope the zebras call fairly.
  17. Thanks very much to those that run this BB fan site! At least I finished ahead of Alaska Hoosier and Chris007. I don't mind finishing as #13 in the prediction contest...for football. I'm so lucky...and I pick IU to win when others, that aren't 'true fans', don't. /snark fwiw One Hoosier tradition that is everlasting: POTFB!
  18. The possibility of playing in the Rose Bowl if UCLA and IU ever play in California? (Not the one on New Year's Day, though.) Or, or, maybe...LEO? Do I get another guess? No? Well, what should IU do? Recruit Indiana? Yeah, that's it. Go head to head with Purdue and Notre Dame. OK, go out of state? Been there, done that. Or, once again, look very closely at the OC and DC and those in charge of recruiting. Or consider enlisting a really good plan to get better at certain positions. Or look closely at why IU does not have stability at the QB position. Or think about why IU runs a plethora of back up the middle 4 or 5 plays in a row and telegraphs to the other team that we are doing just that. Or get a quality safety in the defensive backfield...and train him properly. Or find out why IU cannot get or train linemen to protect the backs. And after that, I would realize that IU is not yet ready or prepared to make the investment and to get the personnel in the right place to make IU really competitive in B1G football. Reflect on what IU has done with the last 3 football HCs. After OSU's loss to UM, again...do you think that Kevin Wilson as OC over there...might just be looking for a move? /s Maybe, we could just get Urban Meyer over here for $20 million a year and cheat our way to at least being competitive. /s But the latter would take donors stupid enough to cough up $100 million over the next few . Yeah, Cuban or Musk or Gates or we will do that. Right? /s Actually, just maybe we should be more focused on the primary purpose of this public institution of higher learning. Can we help educate every individual for the greater good of individuals and society?
  19. I don't care who wins between OSU and UM. Went for a walk in a park with my better half during the halftime and until now. POTFB!
