Indiana at Iowa Game Thread: 2/22 - 9:00pm - FS1

Let the home cooking begin. We breath on them it’s a foul while they grab and hold with none. Archie is going to have to get his respect in this league. When will he is the big question; it’s not like we’re playing for anything other than pride. -

I thought Al had turned the corner in his shot but he’s really struggled lately. -
JUCO: 6'4" SG Sean McNeil to West Virginia

Thanks it’s hard for me to imagine New Castle being a smaller school than PH. Of course, there were 3 high schools in Anderson back in the day also. -

I made it up. He’s excited to play behind one of Indiana’s finest me first players on a very short list. -
Will never get old lol.

Yes forgot about him. Lots of size what happened to him and Jake getting some run together? I liked it and both contributed but Davis got healthy and Smith & Fitz got the other minutes. Maybe Arch gives it another chance? -

With talk of Jake potentially leaving and even better odds of Smith doing the same, this recruitment makes a lot of sense. Hope Jakes stays. -

I would agree with this statement. He got and deserved most of the blame, but cell phones and going to class wouldn’t even register at most of the top programs. He carried baggage from OK that got him a show cause at IU by our beloved ex president. When you have friends of the program like Brand and Dakich, who needs enemies? -

Great hands and court vision combined with lots of athleticism to go with his Fridge Perry type physique is how I remember him. Jamarcus was a point forward who could score and pass. Both rebounded well and were jucos on a team as talented as two others since the generals teams. -

He could recruit well also. Jamarcus Ellis, Deandre Thomas, Bassett, the other guard #55 were all very talented to go along with DJ and Eric Gordon. I believe our admin blew it here when we should have lawyered up instead of self reporting. Of course our old Prez was at the Ncaa then so he wanted to make us an example. A lot of people want to discuss all of our F’s but we were a rudderless ship then and no one to keep up with players grades. Sampson could have done great things here but it wasn’t to be, and his decision to break the rules is all on him. -

Keep looking back it’s there. This post was mentioned to show how teams normally go about beating us without last minute coaching to save us a win. We bought fools gold with close wins like Butler. But even looking back on that one, Rob bailed us out of a horrible play call where the ball had been in Greens hands. Others in my estimation would be Iowa and Ohio St games where a better coach gets it done. Of course just my opinion and I like Archie. I just don’t like his coaching this year. -

You are confused since I didn’t say that. My issue with Archie was clock management with the lead and a foul to give under a minute after a timeout to boot. Did you not read that? -

How about Romeo taking the ball out? Let others screen and cut then let him make the best decision on whom to pass so he can get it back quickly? That sounds much more effective knowing how Purdue played our handoffs and the probable one possession game on the line. -

We shoot like s—t from 3 and everyone beats us knowing that. They double team our bigs, Romeo gets picked up by every other defender on the court while usually being fouled. This game is much different in that the scenario to win was still there against Purdue. I believe a top level coach wins it in those scenarios. -

I agree and loved our effort tonight. A great coach gives the ball to Romeo and says get fouled and win it period with less than a minute. He was getting fouled all game and the officials will call it this late in the game. Why not foul Edwards before the shot or foul Haarms to keep him away from the basket. Let the officials make that call as you can easily see Haarms push off before the tip and not get called. -

Edwards missed a dunk and 20+ shots and Haarms lost a ball out of bounds earlier in the game. I believe a great coach wins it for us by it being our possession up 1 with less than a minute to play. And with a foul to give you actually use it. I like Archie and want him to succeed but he didn’t earn the paycheck tonight. -

Shooters didn’t cost us the game. How about court awareness and clock management coming out of the timeout? How about using your last foul by telling your team to out muscle anyone underneath and make the officials make the call on the tip in? Or using the foul in the front court so your d can reset? Or actually giving the ball to your top 5 draft pick after the timeout and let him get fouled? The team put us in a position to win but Archie didn’t have the chops to win it. Not tonight. -

We had this game under control and should not have lost. While you cannot control the out of your @ss 3, you do with a time out and the lead with a minute left. I think we also had a foul to give. The effort was there; our coach flat out lost it at the end. -

And Morgan gets the foul. Is he better on or off the court for us? -

As I watch this game and virtually every other in the Big, Indiana just gets pushed around. It’s not like we don’t push back or grab or hold; we just get called for them. It’s respect to me and Archie, Crean, nor Davis get or got any. There was s time we used to always do the pushing and got respect. Why doesnt Archie go get him some? -

I’m about to mute this I can’t take Dakich anymore. $ would not make him more palatable. He just needs to join Kent Benson in their hate for their alma matre.
