  1. Problem is it’s not about one or two guy’s putting up numbers. You need talent and good basketball players up and down the roster.
  2. Who besides JHS and TJD. Bates coming along. But everyone else is a role player at best.
  3. Another year puts him in the first round? He’ll make a chunk of change next year.
  4. Out of high school don’t mean crap. Just look on the floor. Other Teams have better, more complete basketball players.
  5. The bench isn’t deep. Just about every team we’ve played has better players (except for the cup cakes).
  6. I hate to say it, but it's a bust. No reason to look as bad as he did, unless his dog died or something.
  7. I wasn't aware they played any defense in the NBA.
  8. They were doing what they where supposed to do against a zone. Problem is we have a big who won't take a shot. So the zone don't have to adjust. Only thing you maybe could have done was put more of a shooter in that spot.
  9. Two types of coaches. System guys and talent guys. System guys look for the right players. Talent guys look for the best players. Unfortunately, except for a few odd years, we have been neither. Fix that, and you fix the program.
  10. Yeah, the kid who shall remain nameless looked like kids from my 10U team. :)
  11. Ok, so who are the "elite" coaches that would come here if money is no object? Hell, who are even the "elite" coaches today? Some of you guys may be look for a unicorn.
  12. Those refs where great. F U of I. :)
  13. It just shows how difficult it is to develop a long term successful program, especially in today's day. Keep eyes on Duke and UNC and see where they are in a few years.
  14. I could use a few Nattys after last night.
  15. Cause the Refs where afraid of Franimal. They sucked turds.
  16. I think "bigs" are over rated in todays game. We have had "bigs" for the last several years. Our opponents just shoot lights out over us. We need solid bigs but not necessarily studs. I for one think Logan can step up and work (I hope), plus Renuae. And we can chase the 5* dream until we are blue in the face -- it would be nice, but sometime they seem misclassified (see KL). The key to success is players working together in a system for the betterment of the team. Until we get back to "elite" status, we need to focus on the right players, rather than the best players.
  17. Therein lies the problem. We don't have the horses, yet. The jury is out whether we end up with them or not eventually. Every team we struggle against, they have those guys -- 2 or 3 players that are great all around or absolutely experts in one area of the game (ie; 3 pt. shooters). We have an incomplete team, full of incomplete players. Not time to panic yet, as it's only Woody's second year. He chose to keep the team together when he arrived. Could be the right decision, but could be the wrong decision. But we have to build from here. Next year, a lot of the old guard drops off, plus at least one transfer. I hope for big changes in culture and whatnot next year.
  18. JHS stepped up earlier this year. Clearly working his way to leadership, if no already there.
  19. We are going to struggle against a zone as long as TJD won't shoot. He's got to be willing to shoot when he gets the entry at the FT line. Without it, the zone become impenetrable, especially if he's nursing an injury.
  20. Right, because we did such a great job of "guarding" those farm boys. :) Your bigs are hurt. Your subs are on a different planet. He's what you got at this point.
  21. Classic Woody. I'm not going to comment, before he comments. OK IU, Big Ten is on the line tomorrow. What you going to do?
  22. Right. Can Logan be that bad we can't sneak a couple of min out of him. I think I would rather have a less athletic kid that know basketball (don't know if that's Logan or not) than an athletic kid running around lost.
