You know things are getting surreal when there's a comparison between the IU basketball coach search and the Bachelor\Bachlorette! But one thing I have to agree with is that Stevens almost seemed to ramble when talking about IU and Indiana in general. An excited type of ramble. Like a "I want this to happen" ramble.

I’m trying to temper my expectations, especially after that press video but this is similar to Alabama football getting Saban or UK basketball (bleh) getting Calipari. IU needs to get its home run. To me, Beard or Drew will be a triple but that home run....that grand slam is Stevens. My hopes are up. Get that white whale!

Hmmm....Will a former Knight player be the best coach? Highly doubtful. Just have a seat, Jay and stop parroting.

I was listening to the Key, JWill, and Zubin show on ESPN radio during the drive in this morning. They spent at least 10 minutes talking about IU and this basketball hire. Amidst the NCAA tourney and NFL moves, this was what they spent a portion of the show talking about. Anyone that says this program is no longer relevant is simply wrong. A "has-been"? Sure, we have to accept that based on the last 20 years of performance, but its fan support and allure are still there. Long story short; don't settle on this hire.

I don't think anyone dislikes the man. None of us know him personally but when you're the highest paid state employee (well, maybe not now after Allen) and you're not performing then changes need to happen. Nice people get let go all the time for under performing.

Take early retirement. Take a chance on Fife at least then. It's a tough spot because you can't continue with Archie and Fife is unproven at P5, BUT he has some great influences. EDIT: and it's hard to ignore what he's done on the recruiting trail
