Same here; zero insider information but what gets me is the rumor was Woodson retirement was announced early to curb any fan toxicity at the next home games, yet IU is considering a coach in Cronin that has shown to be antagonist towards the fanbase (as seen a few days ago). That sort of reasoning seems counterproductive.

Disclaimer: I am in NO WAY advocating that Crews would be a good choice for the next IU coach but the UE basketball program hasn't been the same since he left. With the exception of Walter McCarty's one win against UK.

This will sound cliche and 10,000 foot viewish, but someone that is a student of the game. Never satisfied and relentless scout. Adaptable coaching style both in season, between seasons, and in game. A coach that can check his ego when things obviously aren’t working. I’ve seen way too many coaches that think other coaches need to adjust to THEM. This will not always be the case. Familiar with navigating NIL but still recruits high school kids to his system. A players coach. Gone are the days of a strict disciplinarian. A coach that can relate and motivate players. An ultra competitive edge but with not an abrasive personality like a Hurley.

This program is in an incredibly dire need of major boost. My opinion is a candidate like Cronin doesn’t even come close to providing that shot of energy and enthusiasm.
