So frustrating because that game was so winnable. Missed way too many easy baskets and defensive effort was questionable for long stretches. It’s frustrating to watch how much this team beats themselves. Realistically, only three or four times this year where the other team outplayed the Hoosiers.

This sucks.

Also, Woody’s press conference was especially good. Mentioned how he wants and puts his big men in position to be playmakers and that he doesn’t want big guys who are robots. Flory, if you’re listening, Mike Woodson is going to give you the reigns and unlock parts to your game much like he has shown with Trayce.

On the other hand, a win-win scenario can play out by playing Purdue. Beat them with the NCAA tournament next and the team is forced to grow up and not lay an egg in their next game or their season ends. I believe Trayce won’t allow that to happen. Even winning JHS. This is where having Monteverde players should really help. Lose and you have to get over it quickly with an added motivation to get the only banner left of the three possible that they set out to get.

Xavier absolutely wishes he was playing. The likely reason his demeanor was different today is because he has no hope or expectations to come back and play this season. He had that all season long just to shut it down. Of course he’s going through it right now. I’m sure Woody is in his ear to help him get through this, as well as still be a part of this team via leadership like talking during timeouts.

Very nice W. Dealt with some adversity in a tournament atmosphere. The kind of primer we like to have and see.

Would like to win tonight because you would think there will be a contingency bracket with IU as a 3 seed assuming the Hoosiers beat Purdue three times in one season.

This is good to know and sort of invalidates my earlier point about coach needing to know what buttons to push after a big, emotional win. Sounds like this one is on the players and maybe whoever had scout, unless it really was that poorly executed. That may be the case considering how they came out of halftime.

Woodson will be better when he finds that unlike the NBA, you can’t lose your next game and things be ok. Once he finds the right buttons to push after big, emotional wins, the team culture elevates more. Right now, the team doesn’t know how to sustain momentum. Now I would like to see them win the B1G tour because they will be forced to learn.
