IUWBB - News and Notes
TheWatShot replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
They're still doing better than we are even though they lost a lot more. OSU and Maryland are both unbeaten and highly ranked. USC and UCLA are both loaded. It's going to be hard for us to stay relevant in this league if we don't start recruiting better. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
TheWatShot replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It wouldn't be a mess for long if May took control with our resources. -
Dusty May obviously never got the memo that a first-year head coach is supposed to struggle with a band of supporters who blame everything on the previous regime. If I knew any of the people who gave Woodson his money for this year, I'd flood their inboxes with Dusty May propaganda.

Really wish somebody would ask Woodson about this. He probably wouldn't give much of an answer, but he needs to be able to explain why he thinks long 2's are even worth shooting.

Belichick will be 73 by the time next season starts. Why is it so hard for that generation to just retire and be done with it?

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
TheWatShot replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He's got 2 years left on his contract after this. With the transfer portal and players not being tied down to certain places like they once were, it's no longer important to have a coach under contract for a long time. But letting him get into the final two years, especially at his age, indicates uncertainty about how much longer he plans to coach, or if we even want him here. So we'd probably need to address that by either extending or "firing" him. After what we've witnessed with football, I think it would be almost impossible for Dolson to justify an extension without a pretty remarkable tournament run. -
Anybody else with Bama's results isn't sniffing the CFP. It's like people just can't grasp how Bama doesn't own college football anymore.

Wouldn't expect them to say anything else right now. You don't talk about leaving any place until you actually do it. -
I remember him being pretty good in home games for us. Guy was a double zeroes machine in road games.

Honestly curious: what needs to happen for Buckner to leave? Will we know by a certain date if he is or isn't running for another term? How does that work, is he elected to his position or appointed? -
We've won 8 in a row over the Gophers. Since we rarely win more than 2 or 3 in a row against anybody in our conference these days, I felt compelled to research this series history a bit more. We haven't lost at home to Minnesota since 2012. We're 37-6 against them in Assembly Hall. So if Woodson manages to lose to these guys, we'll have some nice big logs to throw on the fire.

Of all the bullet points that were on this list, this one is perhaps the biggest indictment against Mike Woodson. How can you call yourself a head coach when even your own assistants don't listen to you? Think back to the UNC-Greensboro game when, with about 5 minutes left, Woodson called timeout for a baseline out of bounds play. Mgbako took the inbounds pass and immediately shot an 18 foot fadeaway. Either Woodson drew up a lousy play, or he drew up something else and Mgbako said "screw it, I'm taking this (bad) shot." If nobody listens to or respects the head coach, why are we employing the guy?
