  1. This really isn't a good matchup for us. I was surprised at how confident some of our fans were. We foul, foul, foul every game and USC's bread and butter is driving and getting to the line.
  2. Would be nice if we could get a little run to end the half. I don't like our chances if the second half becomes a free throw parade.
  3. Is Purdue finally starting to fall out of favor with the media? They stayed at #12 in both polls this week even after winning by 30 on the road yesterday. Andy Katz actually put us above them in his power rankings this week, and he's been a huge Purdue homer in recent years. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2026-02-02/st-johns-iowa-state-climb-top-10-mens-basketball-power-37-rankings
  4. 36 point lead in the first half cut to 10 with 4 minutes to go. Disappointing to be up by that much and still need 4 of your starters playing 35+ minutes to come away with the win.
  5. I know we're down a starter, but this would be a great game to play more than 7 players.
  6. Will Alabama be ranked next week? Once upon a time, Purdue fans acted like they had the best win in college basketball after winning there.
  7. Northwestern is terrible. Cancel the rest of the season if we can't win this one after this start.
  8. Going to say this while I still have the chance: the last time Purdue won a basketball game, we had zero national titles in football.
  9. Isn't 14 the only double digit seed Painter has never lost against? Could this be the year? Fingers crossed...
  10. USC is probably our most winnable road game left. They might just be that weird team that's better on the road than at home. Lost at home to Northwestern last week, who was winless in the conference. Beat Rutgers by 3 points today. Won at Wisconsin last weekend, at Minnesota in overtime earlier this month and were about to steal one at Iowa before that brain-dead foul at the end.
  11. Not sure. I'm a fan of Kenpom and use it for my brackets every year, but that's an odd one. I'd expect that kind of quirk from the NET rankings, not from somebody with Pomeroy's track record.
  12. UCLA moved up 3 spots on Kenpom and we moved down 2. lol
  13. Miami of Ohio is a neat story, but there's a reason they're barely top 25. Currently down 10 midway through the first half, at home, to 7-13 Northern Illinois.
  14. Does anyone else get a little nervous watching the highlights because you're afraid it was too good to be true? Like, Sharpe won't actually intercept the pass, or Mendoza will fumble after the initial hit on his run? I'm only able to watch the blocked punt because nobody shows highlights of a punt, so that one obviously went our way.
  15. Let's pretend they not only show up, but actually contribute next season. How much better could we be? Top half of the conference/bubble team? Not going to get people back in Assembly Hall. If we were 4-6 or maybe 3-7 in the conference and the team was fighting hard and growing, I'd support giving her another year. We're 0-10 and going nowhere. I just don't see things getting back to where we want them to be if she sticks around.
  16. I heard a lot of neutral fans say during our football run that they wanted to get behind us, but we seemed like the kind of success story that always ends tragically. Wasn't the case, obviously, but I could easily see that happening to Nebraska. March is unforgiving.
  17. I wondered if that might be him. Ben Humrichous just crashed into him trying to save a loose ball. Humrichous, by the way, graduated high school in 2020.
  18. @Uspshoosier I turned on the Illinois game and looked for the super fan you've mentioned that's always seated in the lower left corner of the screen, but I didn't see him. Has he not been there this year or does he wear a different jersey now?
  19. We can debate expectations all we want, but I think everyone would agree that a P5 coach in her 12th season should never be 0-10 in the conference under any circumstances.
  20. Players usually follow the lead of their coach. When the coach has mentally checked out, the players will too.
  21. I can't see Painter going anywhere or hanging it up unless we finally have a coach who can make his job more difficult. Outside of maybe a couple years with Crean, he's been able to get pretty much anybody he wants within the state.
  22. I've seen it titled halftime rant for years. Classic example of the Mandela Effect.
  23. Purdue starts 2 true seniors and a super senior. If they make any kind of run in March, I wonder if the media will hyper-fixate on how their average age is older than some NBA teams.
  24. What did it say? It disappears when I click on it.
  25. This makes me happy after years of Purdue fans referring to Assembly Hall as their practice court.
