These Minnesota uniforms are sharp. Think they’re throwbacks but I’m watching with the sound off so if it has come up I haven’t heard it.

I think winning the BTT would be a nice trophy for the case, but getting a 3 seed would be more important imho. It’s not always this way but avoiding a 1 seed as long as possible, plus avoiding a 4/5 matchup the first weekend, is a big deal.

Crucial game for IU’s seeding given that UMd has the tiebreaker over us.

For what it’s worth, the track record of PGs reclassifying to get to college earlier is dire. Lander especially so, but Ashton Hagans at UK, Duke had a guy that then got forced out after a year and had a mediocre career at USC and some third school…someone looked at the reclass data and it’s rough for PGs, wish I could find the link. For other positions, on average it has not had a drastic negative impact if I recall correctly.

None of the 3 seeds really covering themselves in glory. Things change quickly in college hoops but my non-bracketologist’s hunch now would be that the top 8 should feel pretty good assuming they don’t REALLY fold, and the door is cracked for one or more of the 4-5 group to play their ways into the 3 line with strong finishes

I tend to think hoops should be fun to play and watch and Walton makes them fun. Totally get that he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but he’s sooooooooooooooooooo much better than the actually bad and boring analysts like Bardo

Didn’t see the bracket show so if this was mentioned, forgive me: any consideration to IU’s injury issues in slotting them at 13?

You’re right that it wasn’t his day, but it’s just awesome to have a guy who makes enough winning plays to help even on a day like that. Uncommon at all, let alone in a frosh

Frustrating game but a huge one. Plenty to work on and complain about…but ultimately winning it is an enormous deal for seeding, BTT double-bye, etc. Look on the bright side: gonna have 3 or more games to incorporate an all-league caliber guard before the big dance.

I still sort of think he might be back if cleared today. Race hadn’t practiced and just showed up in uniform for a home game.

I have gone from thinking he was underrated to properly rated. I used to think the lack of tourney success was bad luck, hiding a better-than-reputation coach. Still think there’s some bad luck but his teams annually get worse from about mid-January on. He’s also been somewhat unlucky: last year Branham was off draft radars but played his way from a 2- or 3-year college career into a 1st round draft pick, this year it’s happening with Sensabaugh. The Zed Key injury has tanked their defense…but IU’s had worse injury luck and survived it.

I’d add that the allegations bring up the question of his integrity. Officials needn’t be choirboys but in theory it should make an employer pause before continuing a relationship

My counterpoint is that I would like to take my small children to a game without them learning that word.

Team needs to flush it. We can discuss it all we want but I think I learned something good about this team in the second half. Let’s get X back and keep winning. If IU can take care of business at home and maybe steal a road game it should still finish second. Looking forward to the BTT for once, honestly. Let’s nip NW in the semifinal and then either play PU for the sweep or to break the season series tie on Sunday.

Yeah, still a sophomore and it’s always the road games. IMO he, personally, needs to 1. totally alter whatever road routine he has. 2. come in and just move the ball and defend on the road. Take an open rhythm shot, sure, but otherwise just let it come to you.

Kansas State losing had to be slightly beneficial for IU’s seeding relative to them, right? Even on the road to a decent team?

Oh yeah, as a fan I’m with you — more separation for the top of the conference and UW looks more respectable w/o really damaging UM much.

I don’t think you have to root for them, and in fact the Torvik rooting guide says a UM win is better for IU. I’d guess because it would strengthen IU’s resume by dint of allowing them 2 shots at UM?

Illinois falls. Ruger falls. If UW beats UM, we’ll have some separation in the middle of the standings.
