(2016) PF De'Ron Davis to IU
WayneFleekHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Michigan St has a great start to their class and are likely to add Cassius Winston. If so, that would give them 2 top 25ers and 1 top 40. No wonder Izzo wins...... -

2015/2016 Saturdaily College Football Thread
WayneFleekHoosier replied to LIHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
1. IU of course 2. Bama Wisconsin 3. ND Texas -
That Early Duke game or Kansas game could be huge for recruiting. If we beat a national powerhouse on a large stage it could be a catapult. Then again, I thought having 2 top 5 draft picks in the same year would be too.

Our 2016 recruiting has been extremely underwhelming. You can't recruit like this and be a national contender. We have a LONG way to go to have the type of recruiting class we need for 2016. Too many other Universities knocking it out of the park with recruiting. We aren't amongst them. In order 1. Rawle 2. Maker 3. Bridges 4. Bruce Brown 5. DeRon Davis 6. Leaf 7. Kegler 8. CuJo I may be missing some....

2015-16 Basketball Schedule
WayneFleekHoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
@MSU, @Wisc, @Iowa, @UM, @Illinois. 4 of those 5 then a home loss to anyone. Probably 2 home losses. So 12-6 -

PITT Transfer Josh Newkirk is headed to IU!
WayneFleekHoosier replied to Sam_Boger's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
kudos. Love reading this post. I am not anti Crean as much as I am pro Indiana. Too many repeated errors in system, coaching, player personnel, and recruiting. I want him or ANYONE to succeed at IU. I want to be on top, regardless of who is coaching. The hard thing is we are 2 years removed from a preseason #1 ranking and could be preseason top 10 this year. The near success is tantalizing but the failure to live up to expectations is excruciating. -

I can live with this and I do think he can be better for us than he was for Pitt (he better be). But his resume/live action does nothing to convince me he will be great. To me it's another weird impulse signing by Crean. As Newkirk's father said, few schools had reached out to him. There is a very good reason for that. Sadly. Now if UK, Duke, Arizona, Kansas jumped in on him that would be another great sign. Heck, even MSU, O$U, UL, UConn jumped in that would be good. There are a number of signs that this is another classic reach by Crean. He's been doing that more and more lately, if you've noticed. -

You have your opinion and I have mine. I am not going on 1 thing to base my opinion. I watch a lot of college basketball. I've seen him play. He is an upgrade from Stan Robinson, he is not Yogi Ferrell. Those quotes about him regressing and looking lost aren't my opinions. Those are in the write up. He is a bad free throw shooter as far as PGs go. He has microsurgery on his knee. He is okay. He may even turn out decent but he is currently a fledgling backup point guard from Pittsburgh who crumpled under the pressure of more minutes. Blamed the system and left the program. Forgive me for not being enamored. I don't need 5 star players but I want players to be excited about and this is a big risk with some odds but low odds of being a homerun. -

I recommend reading "a closer look" on inside the hall. Quotes like, "he looked lost out there", "he regressed" don't impress much. Would be a good player as our 11th, 12th, 13th, but as our starting PG I'm not pleased. And those that are impressed don't have high enough expectations for what we could be. -

He was a back up PG at Pitt. Back up PG. -

yeah but he averaged 5.9. He is a decent player. He is not April. He also is not Yogi. -

Article goes on to say he plans on taking the torch from Yogi and carry right over. His dad says he plays just like Yogi. Loves fast paced play and playing through mistakes. Sounds like we "found" Yogi's replacement. -

247 article: Newkirk decommited in August and "hadn't had many schools reach out to him". Scary thought. -

this is my take to a degree. It would be ideal to get 2 BIG IMPACT guys still. Bridges/Leaf and Alkins/Leaf would have me jumping for joy. Or 3 of CuJo, BB, Stevens, Davis, etc.. Also of note. Even more likely now Gordon isn't going to be a Hoosier.
