  1. I think we still take another guard. If Blackmon bolts we take 2. Shouldn't affect yet.
  2. well, do u want to be Pitt or IU? We have great O horrendous D They have great D and horrendous O. Both options stink but ours is more fun.
  3. Also that storied 2017 indiana class. If troy leaves this year we have zero 2017 openings? I need to research this.
  4. Trying to square away scholarship numbers here. We are full now on current class with Newkirk. Yogi----Gelon Max---- Ziesloft----- Troy?---- Blackmon?---- Bryant?---- Priller?---- So we have 2 more definite openings? 1 very likely opening in Troy. 1 semi likely opening in JB2. 1 maybe opening in TB? So 2 openings before oversigning?? Also Priller could be a open scholarship too.
  5. If we get 2 of Bridges, Brown, Alkins, Leaf, CuJo, Davis I can live with these early signings. This one in particular. I understand the veteran PG thing. It makes sense to balance out roster too. Just not an exciting signing when those aforementioned players are on the board.
  6. lets be honest. Who doesn't? Softest D in the nation. One thing about Newkirk, those boys from Pitt can Defend and NOT shoot.
  7. I think Rob will be our PG starter next year.
  8. Admittedly CuJo is not an immediate big impact PG either as a Fresh. I like Bruce Brown better. Also I would rather see RoJo on PG, Blackmon at SG, Alkins at the 3. Newkirk backs up Rojo.
  9. Time has proven AGE and Experience nowadays means little compared to the the days of old. It's ALL about skill. Duke and UK have proven this fact. A middling PG is a middling PG. If he were our backup PG for the future i could live with that.
  10. You will be happy with this kid being our lead PG? Me neither. We are becoming Pitt, Xavier, Marquette. Not Duke, Arizona, Kansas.
  11. Such odd choices by our staff. A PG who can't shoot coming off knee surgery. Sure, sign him up. We are Indiana.
  12. i agree. Bandwagon fans explain it perfectly. Kids are especially bandwagoners.
  13. I just read the interview too.  I wish this kid nothing but the best.  Seems like a great kid.  If he can be anywhere near Jon Scheyer or Nick Stauskus I will eat crow and be happy to do so.    Remain fixed that I don't agree with the timing but this kid is easy to root for.
  14. Every roster spot should be cherished. Injuries, transfers etc. every single spot should be regarded with extreme precision. Can I say Crean feels this way? Not by the evidence I've accumulated over the past 7 years. April, Priller, Hoetzel. Exhibit A, B, and C. I don't mind a chance at a sharp shooter. But do it after you have the key pieces in places not before. Priller and April were giant recruiting miscues. Priller doesn't have D1 athleticism and I could see that from a 4 minute YouTube video.
  15. According to every ranking. Moreover, I am just pointing out the Crimson shaded glasses many are using. I'm HOPEFUL he turns into a player too just being realistic about the situation. He averaged 14 pts a game as a HS Junior and as a shooter. I will support this kid with my full fandom, I'm just questioning the decision making abilities of our leader/coach primarily. If it weren't for Bryant our last recruits would read Hoetzel (0 star/IU bump to 3), Blackmon (5 star) Priller (0 star), April (0 star), Holt (0 star/IU bump to 3) Morgan (4/3 star), OG ( 0-3 star) Thomas Bryant (5 star) , Gelon (0 star)
  16. Another way of looking at this. Purdue got Ryan Cline, a "sharpshooter" from Indiana who is higher ranked than Gelon. No one even batted an eye about this kid going to Purdue. Crimson colored glasses are in effect here because if Purdue signed Gelon we'd be laughing at little brother for days on end for not being able to recruit top 10 Indiana HS players.
  17. I understand this sentiment but HIGH major college basketball is really just like majoring in Basketball. Their ultimate goal is to play ball professionally. I want quality human beings first and foremost but I don't care if they are "majoring in basketball" at all. It's generally their best skill and most of the really high major players will play professionally somewhere.
  18. I agree with this, and Gelon may be that guy. But I still don't agree with our approach here.
  19. Precisely. Matt Roth couldn't even hold his roster spot and that is our comparison and justification for Gelon. This is just another example of Crean's haphazard recruiting style. How do you not watch this kid halfway into his Sr. year and make sure this is the player you want. No big fish were jumping in and we were the dream destination. I can't get over the fact we watched him play 1 or 2 tournaments only. At least we saw him in game action, we can't even say that for Hoetzel. I am still astonished by the way he played this recruitment. To me, there is zero reason not to slow play this recruitment. We were the dream school. This is why UK can wait as long as they want. They are most kids dream school. We were GGs dream. Maybe our transfer numbers would be more reasonable if we actually had a recruiting game plan.
  20. wow, Nigel Hayes 1. Nah!
  21. On that note, I will heed warnings and cease and desist but I wanted to make it clear I don't make baseless comments. I'm done and thanks.
  22. Wrong again Old Friend. I SAID, statistically this is the same as Priller and April. All 3 were unrated players at the time of their committing. STATISTICALLY, we have no reason to believe this is any different. You can watch all the YouTube clips you want, I was referring to rankings. Absolutely NOT a "baseless" comment. It was based on recruiting rankings.
