Losing sucks and can create riffs amongst the players. Seems like the bulk of it. -
2026 G Adolph "Junior" County to UConn
WayneFleekHoosier replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
And that’s kinda how I feel about the whole team next year. That balance between star freshman recruit vs more experienced portal player. Like Michigan this year with McKinney. He’s good enough to probably start most places and likely won’t at Michigan. That’s a tremendous problem to have. I think Taylor would start. I’m sure Thompson would start. Not sure you want 3 or more Freshman in your projected starting lineup these days. -

At Pguard they are pretty much dry. Feels like overseas, portal, or a later bloomer. We need a stud at PG so we need to do our due diligence. I didn’t love County though so I’m ok. Portal backup option certainly alleviates the pain of recruiting misses. -

This is where I align. I mean, I guess if he thought this was his only path to something bigger. But I think he’s also a West Coast guy. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

I’m always rooting for our squads and our individual players. I thought Lamendola was eventually going to be a fan favorite. Never panned out. Garzon had an edge. Unsure which players bonded with her. Pretty much a Trust in Moren situation at all times for me. She’s been knocked by some since the early days for transfers but she’s about culture and fit and that’s very important. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -

Feels like a pipedream on this one. Hearing UK initially and Houston a lot recently. But if you get a visit I suppose you have a chance. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

Do you know more about the locker room stuff? Another notable player that’s not here this year you didn’t name. Interesting she’s talking about 2026 class when 2025 girls would seem poised to contribute. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -
Well stated. My oldest son is playing college baseball in a similar scenario. He gets 20k academic scholarship, and 6k baseball so that 35k tuition becomes reasonable. He loves it and it’s a great school so we are happy as parents but your description of the scenario isn’t lost on me either. This school doesn’t do a lot of the cutting but playing time is hard to come by and the effort required are a lot, so some phase themselves out. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

That’s been my thought for a while with this roster. Hopefully the shooting holds up. Sisley compliments are awesome for him. Not sure it’s awesome for our roster, in the sense that other guys aren’t much better at this point. I love Sisley though, feels like he could project like Tucker D. Hoping and rooting for the best. We will need to not get “blitzed” early. If we can hang in there and put some pressure on them, who knows. I think the speed will end up affecting us. So long as we don’t get blown out. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -
(2026) - PG Taylen Kinney to Kansas
WayneFleekHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yeah, it’s drifting a bit. Not without hope. TK was a clear Adidas push and we were understandably behind Kansas and Louisville in that battle. Kansas pulling him from Louisville was impressive. Feel good about Allmond. Taylor to a certain degree. Thompson seems unlikely to me. The pack is thinning itself. -

Kansas is what I was hearing too. And they say they will try to push for Ethan Taylor too. Hoping we can do something to help convince Taylor but it’ll be an uphill battle. Bigger role? Connections? -

Whew! Watched game from phone at birthday lunch, then from car, then ultimately at a family members hockey game. Lol. Busy day. Snatched victory from the Jaws of defeat, and I’m here for it. Tough, gritty win. Some chinks in the armor, but that’s a strong win. Also no love lost between Cig and Ferentz at the end. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

Outplayed them pretty badly but made it closer than it should have been in the process. This team is really talented. Just gotta get it all cycling at the same time. We are weaker than I’d like at Keep. D is pretty strong and fundamental but lack elite athleticism. Mid is solid. Forward line is better than the previous years. Everything I’ve read on X screams UK here to me. Taylor is our best bet but Kansas scares me. Will the C position end up like the PG recruiting in this class? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

WayneFleekHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Whatever money we spent recruiting him should go towards a player we had a realistic chance of landing. I’m being semi-facetious here. On that tangent Norlander and Parrish talked about how many coaches that are complaining That they are broke. Blaming football programs etc for eating up all the money. No teams named or coaches. Indiana should have enough money to keep both flagship programs in position, but Rabjohns quote and Parrish and Norlanders discussion piqued my interest. I love football being legit, so I’m just riding this all out. Hoping basketball makes some splash on or off the court here soon. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -

(2026) - Latrell Allmond
WayneFleekHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This is the big question. Attitude and personality carry and big factor too. Fitting in like Queen last year, or McNeely last year can work. Counting on 3 or 4 freshman to start and win in the B1G isn’t likely to work. DeVries has some huge decisions ahead of him -
(2026) - PG Anthony Brown to Vanderbilt
WayneFleekHoosier replied to Demo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
wow. on a 50-75 ranked freshman. The market is the market i suppose. Indiana will need to spend it somewhere although, I want some sort of proven commodity once the prices get astronomical. Transfer portal we go. We might need to spend 1.5 there though. -
330k for starters in the secondary? Ponds likely getting more? Big money for these athletes.
