So Indiana is sitting at 3-2. Need 3 more wins to be bowl eligible, 4 wins to ensure a winning season. Remaining schedule: Michigan @ Michigan State @ Maryland Wisconsin @ Illinois Rutgers @ Purdue Great chance at a win: Illinois, Rutgers Good chance at a win: Maryland, Purdue Some chance at a win: Michigan, Michigan State Slim chance at a win: Wisconsin Before the season started, I would have put Michigan state in the good chance at a win category, but they seem to be playing pretty well now. The running game and the pass rush are the two biggest things to me moving forward. Ramsey isn't going to win many games airing it out, at least not this year, so we need the backs to produce. Need to consistently get pressure from our D line. If that happens this team can get to 7...maybe 8 wins, pre-bowl. If i was a betting man, I'd put my money on 6-6, but man 7-5 would look nice.

We'll definitely see two quarterbacks in this game. Need a solid performance on both sides of the line. Not going to completely shut down Barkely, just have to prevent the big plays. Hopefully Ball, Riggins, and company are fit to play. Defense will need everyone for this game.

Have to think this was the last straw for the Spelunking coach. Recruiting has been down, large amount of turnover in the program, off-court incidents, and now throwing a team member under the bus by simply leaving him in a cave. Can't settle for mediocrity in our Spelunking program!

Until they introduce measures to prevent tanking, I'm all for taking advantage of the situation. No point in trying to be the 10th best team in your conference. Better to capitalize on the draft. Would be interested to see a measure where they award the best team that missed the playoffs with the number one pick. I know there are some issues to work out (teams trying to miss the playoffs by a game, how to handle East/West, etc) but I think it's a step in the right direction. At least a conversation to have. A lot of people may not like soccer, but promotion/relegation is a great tool. Unfortunately it wouldn't work with the NBA.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's hard to be completely confident in a road game against a P5 school. I know Virginia is a low-level ACC team who has struggled in recent years, but I am overly-familiar with IU's struggles as well. The Ohio State game went pretty much how I thought it would. IU kept it close for a while and OSU broke away at the end. That's not an indictment on IU by any means. They played Ohio State better than a lot of teams will this year. It's just too early to take any definitive conclusions from the game. Did IU play well because there was no tape of their offense out there? Did IU play well because of the situation surrounding the game? Can IU come out with the same energy against a lesser Virginia squad? There's a lot of questions left to be answered. I predicted IU to win and I still think they will, but not by a large margin. I love Indiana Football. I'd love nothing more then to see them finally breakthrough and have some 7-8 win seasons. I just know that it's a marathon and not a sprint. As far as your question about Chicago, I know Joe on Weed's is supposed to have a fairly large IU contingent. Unfortunately, I'll likely miss at least the first half this week, if not the whole game. I'll follow along on my phone and probably DVR the game to watch back on Sunday. Give 'em hell Hoosiers.

With talk about the Virginia game spilling into the OSU game thread, I figured it was time to just start a new topic. Indiana travels to Virginia for the first road game of the season. Kickoff is early in the day (12:30) and IU has had some trouble with early kickoffs in the past. I'll be watching to see if Indiana's O-line can perform better against a lesser opponent. Lagow had little time to pass against the OSU and the running game could never get started. I expect both to be better this week against a crummy Virginia team. Also interested to see if our D-line is able to create any pressure on Virginia's QB. I expect Indiana to win, but I don't think it will be comfortable. A loss to Virginia sets a bad tone for the rest of the season.

Think it might be time for a UVA game thread.

Ticket selection process for season ticket holders is still taking place. You should see balcony tickets start to show up sometime in the next week or so.

Indiana Football and guaranteed win don't exactly go together. A lot of questions still to be answered on the offensive side of the ball. I would be ecstatic with 7 wins, but I'm expecting 4-6.

Win 2 games against a top 10 team?! When was the last time Indiana beat one top ten team? Hell, IUFB win all 4 while you're at it.
