  1. Archie needs to be on the refs about that. Maybe Penn State saw what Maryland was doing and brought that into the game plan.
  2. Yeh, that was hard. Both guys going hard after that one. Very proud of the toughness the team has shown the last few games. IU is going to need to be very, very tough to make it through the rest of the season, and to force the Hoosiers' way into the wide open NCAA tournament this year. It is hard to imagine, but the 'easy' part of the schedule is already over for IU. And the F-U chant most of the fan base is so embarrassed to know took place on our court by our fans is the type of important in game experience that does not translate watching the game on television. Most television viewers would not even be aware of some of the bad behavior some IU fans showcased during that big MSU game, without learning about it during discussions of the game afterward with people who were in attendance that day. If you had not reminded me of the student section chants, I possibly may have forgotten they had happened. I am curious now to hear about how our fans behaved during the Maryland game. I have not heard anything about the behavior of our fans during the Maryland game. It just occurred to me that it is even possible that Jalen Smith, remember he is only 19 years old, may have been referencing the IU students' F-U chants during the MSU game when he got caught up in the moment at the Hall screaming the same thing back at the IU crowd near the end of the Maryland game. I am not excusing the poor judgment he made at that time, but rather trying to understand it better. I really want to like that guy after watching his performance against IU. He was nearly unstoppable, and I found myself simply in awe of the talent, and his seemingly complete game, so much so that at the very end of the game when he immediately went back to the crowd after the game ended and taunted the crowd with the "This is MY Hall!" screams, my heart sank thinking, "oh man, this is a serious bummer, on top of everything else that just happened, am I not going to be able to like this guy now?" My heart was already sinking fast immediately following the loss, and watching that short spectacle made it plunge faster to mingle on the level of some of my all time low depths as an IU fan. That was tough, the bad kind of tough this time.
  3. He went to the rim strong against Michigan State, collided in midair with I forget who, fell hard and landed on his tailbone it looked like. He writhed in pain on the floor awhile, was checked out there, and was able to walk to the bench, but missed the rest of the Michigan State game, the Maryland game, and I am told he is most likely missing the Penn State game also.
  4. Yeah that hurt. That was a nice effort, and he was getting results. I hope to see him come out and pick up where he left off when he can get back on the court again. Hopefully that happens soon. I guess he is out for the Penn State on the road game?
  5. Race Thompson, Jerome Hunter and Armaan Franklin have each put together solid performances recently, and each seem to be trying with a little more success on the floor of late to add meaningful noteworthy minutes. Next to winning, watching IU players breakout during the courses of their playing careers may possibly be the most enjoyable aspects of being an IU fan for this IU fan. Here's hoping these guys can continue to improve a lot and become consistent guys we rely on to push IU over the top again and again. I did not see an appropriate thread on the board to address this subject. I think I read a couple weeks ago in the negativity thread that player development does not happen at IU anymore, and then voila, so here is a spot I just want to share my great IU fanjoy watching these three guys step up and get some nice results in big games of late. It must be an amazing feeling for the guys when they put together some nice games like we have seen over these last few big games in the course of these young players' development. Witnessing breakout performances in individual players in real time is why a lot of us on the IU boards are the obsessed IU fans we are.
  6. much appreciated. thx.
  7. I have not been able to find any news about Race Thompson and when he can be expected to be back in the rotation. Anybody have anything to share? Thx.
  8. I am thinking the bar is a little higher than that, after showing what this team is capable of right now, and counting on this team to continue to improve a lot down the stretch, unlike the Crean teams that faded down the stretch. (ftr I like Crean and what he tried to do here. he really loved IU, and was proud of being here)
  9. Armaan should also be included on the good side of the ledger too. He looked like he belonged there last night. And his box score looks like an Oladipo box score. He was a nice player for us last night on the road. I am thinking now with steady improvement he might possibly even be able to become one of our guys by the end of the year.
  10. wow. we finally got a road win. it was tough. proud of IU tonight.
  11. I don't remember seeing Armon and Devonte together on the court this year until now. Interesting.
  12. We are both scared, and not prepared to get the ball into the post. Our offense is both puzzled and afraid. If I could choose one word to name the offense Indiana runs now, I would name it the Scared Offense. Get the ball into the post, into Jackson-Davis' hands inside, into Justin Smith's hands inside, into Joey Brunk's hands inside, and most definitely into De'ron Davis' hands in the post. Rutgers needs to be backed down in the post. We have the guys to do that. IU is stronger than Rutgers , but we don't do what we need to do th get the ball to our athletes and beasts under the rim. We are not a perimeter team, but we spend most of our time on offense passing the ball slowly around the perimeter.
  13. Ah ok, so much for that thought then. Now I wonder if he was violating university policy by doing that, or if he asked the university if he could go to go to the game lol.
  14. This thought never occurred to me until now. Because he was fired, he may have been told he is not allowed on campus. And then that would mean he would need to ask for permission to be on campus. And that may explain why he has never come back. Because he never asked for permission. I am guessing the university has certain policies and procedures that apply to everyone, even VIP's.
  15. Don't you think that making it a spectacle would be one of the biggest motivating factors for Coach to come home and watch a game?
  16. Yeh, Deron wrecked State. I hope he can come in and do that again. That was fun.
  17. You bring so much to this board. Thank you for doing that.
  18. Michigan State always gets their poopmakers handed to them before they play IU. Usually it is the game right before they play IU. I think they prepare extra hard for IU leading up to that game at the expense of the game before. After we beat them twice last year, it looks like Izzo might be giving up two games this time to prepare for IU. I do not know for certain, but I would not be surprised if Wisconsin beats them in a few days too, or they at least struggle against Wisconsin. And then they will come out balls to the wall against IU the game after. Just a trend I see. IU needs to be really committed to basketball and determined now if they want to try to get one of these next two road games and then try to beat State at home the game after.
  19. how many times did the IU defense force a steal only for the transition offense to run the length of the court, with help, and try to shoot a layup straight through the only northwestern guys in position to defend under the basket, and of course miss and/or get swatted down, and lose possession?
  20. that was a chore to watch. that is not why I follow IU basketball.
  21. wow. we are losing to northwestern at home? northwestern is always bad, and they are worse this year. wow. bummer, man.
  22. We took 8 in the last 8 minutes. Not sure if you checked the game log before you suggested I check the game log. Maybe you read the wrong one. If you google arkansas indiana box score the previous two games from last year come up. Maybe you read the game log from one of those two games. I doubt you are just posting to start an argument, but if you are, I do not intend to get into one of those dumb Monday morning semantics arguments over this either. You probably are not doing that, but just in case. The point I was trying to make was that the offense was launching a lot as Indiana slowly but surely lost the lead, and the offense was not going inside where the team had been successful with mismatches underneath the basket enough after amassing the nice lead. I think we can agree with those two statements. Cheers.
  23. It seems like we took at least 10 of those then with 10ish minutes to go in the game and a 7ish-9ish point lead, and a huge advantage under the basket.
  24. is it against the rules to back a guy down to the basket?
