Beautiful comments above. I expect to see multiple well crafted approaches breaking the Syracuse zone, all of the above and some more. I hope to see lots of overloads to one side like Crean ran against them too. Those overloads seem from memory to be the only formations Crean ran against Syracuse that beat them consistently, and those overloads to one side Crean ran did beat the Syracuse zone consistently. Raised on Bobby Knight basketball it was so disheartening coach after coach, ex-post Bobby Knight, to watch IU basketball teams struggle against zone defense. For 20ish years that always shocked me every play of every game I watched that happen. I am very grateful and thankful to God right now that our chief coach and the other badass coaches on our staff now thrive on beating obstacles such as this Syracuse zone. They seem to know how to beat these obstacles and they seem to know how to teach multiple foundational concepts at top level of training to our hungry young, talented team. I love so much we finally have some of the best coaches in the game coaching our team again, like in classic IU days.

IUBB vs Marshall - 11/27/21 @ 7:00 on BTN

the entire bench the entire game 0 assists, 1 rebound 8 turnovers, 5 fouls in 44 minutes of action 8 points scored are very far from making up for all of that eye popping activity on the negative side of the ledger, and this post represents only half of a full critique of the bench. the other half of a critique of our bench would be a post showing what Marshall did to us while our bench was racking up the stats listed above. this is a powerfully poor performance. extremely alarming after what seemed to be some signs of possible improvement. now we are at the end of the cupcake schedule. our bench does not look ready to help us win games. -
I like that the defense does not appear to be gimmicky in that the opponent is not held to an artificially lower score because on offense we run out the clock each possession and take a desperation shot in the last 10 seconds like it seems we did in different variations for most of the last 20 years of Indiana basketball now, Sampson years excluded.
