  1. Dont disagree, just looking for more material on the reason for the "low" buyout. I did look up Kelsey's at L'ville and it seems to be around $8.7 million after 1 year so in comparison his is indeed lower. Still would love to know it was fully driven by May for another look at IU
  2. Sure but when negotiating these, the school can argue for a lower #2 and the coach can argue for a lower #1. If a school insists on a low #2 the coach will do the same and argue for a low #1 and vice versa. So i see them as all part of the negotiations.
  3. I have been asking this same question and have not gotten an answer. Michigan may have had that low because he was not a sure fire guy at this level and wanted an offramp if he could not reproduce the FAU results.
  4. I know you worked for the C's and likely still have connections there. Seeing how you have been definitive in your responses makes me wonder if you are getting this directly from BS or his family. IF the Chris version of last time is correct, I don't think Brad would have discussed this with anyone within the Celtics organization during the process. I have changed jobs 6 times and I keep all those discussions private until I have accepted a job and past the background checks. Clearly you have heard something that suggests a different version occured. Did BS have any discussions with IU? Generally curious to hear your side beyond just saying the other version did not happen.
  5. For the new people, to be fair, they probably missed out on process 101 with KathyC.
  6. Was on all the ones posted so far except espn. Was usually a “Buck” of some sort. Can only remember Bucks donuts though. Came over with the migration as well. This is home but I miss the app.
  7. He can be a solid Christian and still make occasional stupid decisions. The apostle Paul who wrote much of the New Testament hunted Christians and was there watching as Stephen was stoned.
  8. Private message to those with inside information they need to verify: If the insiders mailboxes happen to be full, I am usually the backup. So send to me and I will pass along to JY, Chris, AP or whomever. Just don't tell the others posters who are not reading this because it was a Private Message to you.
  9. When you say "board" is that the BoT or the message boards? I assume the BoT. With this search, would the full BoT need to be on board with the hire?
  10. I mean if this is a footrace and somehow Beard makes it past stevens or may that is pretty impressive and might indicate the drinking is not a big deal.
  11. I never like Buzz tbh. Maybe because when I first heard of him it was of him taking over for Crean and doing as well as Crean did and wanting to believe Crean was better. Funny, but I carried that dislike every time he moved on. I assumed those moves only proved I was right and that he was a tool and worthy of me not liking him. Hearing a PC recently and then this changed my opinion instantly. Whoever our next coach is, I want them to win a lot and also be such a great communicator who cares about people. I love when during the handshake line a coach will stop and talk some with the opposing coach and/or will stop a player who just killed us or maybe missed a clutch shot and will encourage them. I hate when the TV crew switches from this to show stupid fans after the game lol. Crean would blow by, Woody seems not to care, Archie was too short for anyone to notice him but going back to RMK, sure many times he wanted to chew out his team but often I would see him stop someone to talk a little more. Buzz seems like that kind of guy. If he were to come I would be more worried he would not stay long and we might see a ceiling around the sweet 16.
  12. This reminded me of that Butler coach so many IU fans wish we had hired. The best window to hire him was before Crean was hired in 2008. Stevens became Bulter's coach in 2007 and finished his first year with an incredible 30-4 record including a win over RMK and TT. I remember that search well and never remember hearing his name mentioned as a candidate. We needed more proof, which is reasonable, except when you have a "good" coach as Crean was who has up and down years the timing for replacing him with Stevens (after we got more proof) is dependent on down year timing. I am not suggesting McCollum is the next Stevens at all. I would swing away at the real Stevens, Few, TJ, Oats and May but if you miss on those guys then in the next tier, I am definitely talking to him along with some others. If I talked with him I would need to him to convince me he has the basketball acumen to win, the personality to interact with players, alum and boosters and the drive/grind to succeed. Those things you cannot see from a coach during a game but are crucial to success at this level. Why someone thought Archie had those is beyond me.
  13. If he comes in and we win and find ourselves as a perennial top 15 school and advanced in the tournament we would not care, initially. If we don’t win a championship and see few final 4’s, then we might start to think that style is why we haven’t won a championship. But, if we he was delivering like the AZ Miller did with elite 8’s/sweet 16’s regularly over the next 5 years we would not worry about style
  14. I think Beard can do amazing things here but let’s say he gets off to a good start then sometime in year 2 he has a similar drunken event that embarrasses IU. He gets fired and if it is bad enough it might take Dolson out too. And/or IU’s embarrassment causes them go very conservative on the next hire in attempts to again deemphasize basketball. If I am dolson I don’t take that chance unless I strike out on most others and am down to bigger risks.
  15. I think this would eliminate most of the coaches who have wives and kids who will be in schools. Stevens would be out because his son would transfer and his daughter may come for soccer. Tracy may even get a gig as a professor
  16. If the mods buy him a nicks strom will he go?
  17. i could be misremembering but anyone remember 4 years ago when we were looking for a coach a recruit’s dad said IU was looking to hire Stevens and his son was a top priority. My remembering also tells me the recruit was Braden Smith. Anyone else remember
  18. Wouldn’t anyone affiliated with the stevens avoid flying into Bloomington? No way they would at this stage. Now if Dolson was flying back from there that is interesting
  19. Kind of an interview in front of a huge crowd. Should Michigan play poorly he may drop down the list. But if they play very well he could climb to the top of most fans lists.
  20. IF Stevens were to return to coaching do you think he has the drive to excel, to grind? I know he once was a great coach but can that energy be rekindled?
  21. “What does my drinkin have to do with my knowledge of the game” .. or something like that. If I were convinced he did not have an alcohol problem any more and would not relapse that would help. I would also have to hear more about the event to think the female was the aggressor but that seems a stretch. Even if he came and had success right away the risk of another drunken problem is not something I would take lightly if I were the AD. Especially if I had Few, May or Pearl as alternatives.
  22. I like it. Making a change like this requires Dark Dolson
  23. I took his class. Very interesting when he was not allowing his hate for IU sports to dominate
  24. Just curious, is it easy to know which cars are for the other coaches? Are the players cars there? And most important, does Convenient food mart still have awesome subs?
