  1. Can't take life so serious, you might not make it out alive. Me loves these goofy random dates and numbers to try to prove a point. Let's have a little fun with those 3 in 13 and 5 in 8... You picked the day after ND's last regular season game to get them the most possible rest days. You chose the day IU played their first Big 1.o tourney game to get them the least possible rest days. IU had 5 in 8 days, ND had 3 in 9 days. One team competed while the other was just kind of on the court. One team will play another game in the next few days because they didn't lay turds all over the court. It's disingenuous at best and shear ignorance at worst. But I get it. It's easier to excuse it like we've done for decades now. Your e mirrored that of the team against St. Mary's. Try harder.
  2. I thought they were going to win until I realized they played in the first four and then had to travel to the west coast.
  3. Excel or meet minimum requirements? TJD returning could be helpful. Getting 2-3 that can both defend and be consistent from deep would help. Having a few players that can get their own shot would be an absolute blessing.
  4. Wow, Nova dude almost touched the ball after almost breaking his forearm. Was that just a bad angle?
  5. That's tough, wish him a speedy and full recovery.
  6. That shot keeps getting pushed back. I'm feeling like it'll be close to 3/4 court within a few weeks. ;-)
  7. Which is baffling because you know Woody played on some of those teams. I'd really like to see Woody get a solid group of upperclassmen (X, Gallo, and Geronimo would be my preference) to take over the leadership role for this team. It's one thing to hear it from your coach and something completely different to hear and have it enforced by your teammates.
  8. We've heard plenty how our players were going to improve and we advanced far in the off-season media tourney for years now. We have players with potential. Gallo with a jumper would be a pain for opponents. Geronimo has the tools but needs consistency, if he develops the ability to dribble drive he's going to be a beast. Bates has a lot there just needs reps. Wiscy had a sophomore explode to Big 1.o POY and a frosh start at point that hit several huge shots. It's not a secret that they develop players and get the most out of them even with some thinking they'll finish at the bottom of the conference and they're coach will be fired. We need players that aren't happy with our meritocracy and work to get better not twit about it. We need players that aren't just happy and looking for acceptance from their teammates because they're cool. We need players who compete at everything they do. The type of players that will drag their teammates into the gym and compete at anything and everything on a daily basis. We have a team of mostly likeable players that seem pretty satisfied with being mediocre but getting along with their teammates. It's amazing to watch pieces become cohesive to be something greater than the individual parts. I don't think we saw that much this season. It needs to happen this off-season so next season isn't a big turd
  9. Let's hope that the level of accountability with coaches, staff, and players increases this off-season. Benching for bad on court decisions in the cupcake season could go a long way for players to understand what is and isn't acceptable come conference time. There is a lot to learn for some who have forgotten more about basketball than us underlings who just don't know the game.
  10. Have another to celebrate the W!! Go with a red hot jolly in the Zima to rep IU!!!
  11. Absolutely, I felt we were around a .500 Big 1.o team with our schedule (9 games against the bottom 5 teams in the conference) and a few home games against similar talent. We seem to struggle more than most on the road in the Big 1.o. We were only 2 full games from a 7th-T finish in the Big 1.o. Michigan and Maryland were definitely big disappointments. One lost a coach for good and the other for the last handful of games of the season. It's crazy that even in a bad year Michigan still made it to the second round of the NCAA tourney while we're celebrating a first four victory in our best season in more than a half decade. As I've stated from early in the season, it's more about how we played the game than the end result. Winning and making the field of 68 was great, winning a first four game was great. Improving our TOs through the season, X stepping up and playing better down the stretch and for a few wins in the Big 1.o tourney was great. Similar mistakes from the first to last game is concerning to see. Getting absolutely waxed in the first round is concerning. We can and should be a lot better. It starts with the little things with the players and coaches you have. Hoping to fix it through different players without fixing the foundation doesn't make for the stability needed. Again, just my perspective and opinion. I'd love to be wrong!
  12. 36 holes of golf today would be wonderful! I've been spoiled and have become a fair weather golfer. While the weather is nice, it's not that nice. Plus, 36 holes in one day would be a lot e and e. I'm not sure I'd have the physical or mental capacity to concentrate for that long.
  13. You are correct and that's what the record book shows. For me, and I'm sure some others, the first four is a good opportunity for those schools who typically don't have a great chance at getting wins in the NCAA tourney. It's about perspective and I'm glad we could add that to our win total. I view it differently in a historical perspective. A first four win was tremendous for what we've become as a program. It can and should add a little momentum moving forward.
  14. Absolutely! We earned the right to play in Portland in the first round (Monday qualifier in PGA terms) and then laid an egg (withdrawing after Thurday's round in PGA terms). I think it's cool they expanded the tourney to 68 teams and gives the little schools a chance to get NCAA tourney wins. I hold IU to a little higher standard and it's more than okay people view this differently. It's great that the record book shows we won a first four game and the Big 1.o got a little money for it. Heck, in 10 years there might be another round or the first four might expand to first 16. That would be really cool for smaller schools to get more chances at wins. I'd like to see us back to consistently COMPETING for Big 1.o titles (regular and tourney) while making deep runs in the tourney. It's cool to see us back in the tourney but that should be a minimum for this program.
  15. Thank you, I actually did both this morning. Pretty nice weather and beautiful sky this morning. What did you disagree with in the PGA reference? It does lack a little in that our qualifier was on a Tuesday and the PGA is on a Monday.
  16. Congrats @Naturalhoosier @ALASKA HOOSIER you were right there just ran out of games. You have to be a front runner next season though!
  17. Gotcha! Interesting we finished worse than projected and some still have high marks for the season. https://www.insidethehall.com/2021/10/06/indiana-picked-to-finish-7th-in-big-ten-in-official-unofficial-media-poll/
  18. Felt like we let somethings slip early in the season when it could have been addressed. Controlling the turnovers definitely helped later in the season.
  19. Bump, 4-7 (?) about what I thought posters had predicted.
  20. I remember many picking higher than that in the upper middle half tier. There is/was a thread on the topic. It would be interesting to see where people were at on that.
  21. I get it. Difference of opinion. I think it's pretty cool for low mid-majors to have a better chance of wins in the tourney. We made it to the first round of the NCAA and didn't advance from there. It's like we made the Monday qualifier on the PGA tour then had to withdraw after Thursday's first round.
  22. I remember when all of the cbb talking heads were so wrong where IU would finish in the Big 1.o. It's crazy how we go at these talking heads and even have players going social with it and then we prove them right time and again.
  23. Interesting. Definitely like the trend we saw from X over the season. I do wish he would have been molded a little quicker in the cupcake noncon which is probably the best time to do it. TJD had a tremendous Big 1.o tourney but it felt like I was always left wanting more leadership from him. Watching the post-game pressers from the Big 1.o tourney you can see that he's not in the mold of a leader, wish we could have had X leading from last summer. Gallo needs that jumper to be a complete player but he has the e and e set. Geronimo had some great highlights this season, hopefully, the consistently is there next season. Race did some nice things too but his game alongside Trayce doesn't work well with what we're trying to do. Gallo and him in Cook Hall finding jumpers could go a long way. Race could be a better Gillis from purdoodoo. I'm afraid we don't see much time from Leal unless he becomes and absolute lights out shooter. He could impact the program by dragging his teammates into Cook and whooping them in shooting contests until they reach his level. A Phin, Gallow, Bates, etc. that is consistently shooting better than Leal would be fantastic for this program. I believe they can change. I felt like X was ripe for being molded early but was allowed to do 100 in a 25 for long stretches. How long did X play at Pitt before transferring? The overall point makes sense and aligns with recruiting in general. I feel we did a rather poor job of defining roles and playing to our strengths. This needs to be corrected moving forward.
