Coaching is my biggest concern as well. Coordinators are so important, as you were saying. Allen gave up his playcalling, so get the best DC we can, and put in his own scheme , then see where are. Adding talented depth is the next phase of building at least a quality program. Wasn't a lot separating talent on the field yesterday, just lack of depth wears a team down . -

Hopefully this young group of talented players, on both sides of ball, will grow and develop together as a group. Also with the type of guys Allen is bringing in, the development part of it will be accelerated. Penix is a kid you can use as a recruiting tool. Not saying Allen is answer, but watching IU football for 40 yrs., I have never seen this type of talent, and linemen that look like they physically belong out there, I'm willing to give him a couple more years. Maybe we let him make mistakes along the way, and see where we after Penix's junior year. People laugh about his enthusiasm, but these kids thoroughly enjoy playing for him. Maybe Glaas will be the one at the end holding up his middle finger. What do we have to lose? -

Give him a few more inches and he was a McNair type quarterback at the next level. So dynamic that his teams created special packages for him. -
Fields is impressive
-
Definitely agree with that! A few series there it seemed like we were going vertical. Not usually a big fan of throwing across the field, but those couple of throws he made were very impressive. Alot of weapons on that side of the ball. Plus, one minute someone is complaining about Penix not moving the chains, and not giving the defense rest, then they are complaining about moving the chains.

It's taking what the defense gives you. In order to throw the ball downfield, and open up the run game, you have to throw 'east/west" passes. That was a top 5 defense that we scored 31 points on. Offense was not the problem. And hopefully by now you can see the difference in the two quarterbacks.

Guess we could have hired Jeff Brohm

Rick Mount told me he has helped turned many young players into better shooters. Give them the proper tools, and then it's all just repetition. It's up to the player to commit to putting in the reps. -
Definitely agree on the Pumas!

How about we talk about the talent on that side of the ball. I believe we have weapons all over the field. I want whatever quarterback that's going to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. Penix not only has a great arm, but he also opens up the running game bythe R/O, and keeping plays alive. Especially on 3rd down. -

That's where the length comes into play. You can still go fast. Pushing the pace doesn't necessarily mean dribbling the ball on the break. The Duke's and UK's (not to mention, the NBA)of the world seem to do fine with one pg, and a bunch of wings. Guess I'm old school, I want one quarterback running the show. Depth at pg is definitely a must. But that's the case with every top program. Give me shooters! -

Maybe out of necessity. At IU, he's able to recruit a completely different type player. I believe with this class we're starting to see what type of players he wants for his system. Long, athletic, high IQ guys. Agree about having depth at point, but Archie knows he has the floor general, who will be an extension of him on the floor. And he's only a sophomore. Everyone wants all these shiny 5☆ pg's, buy I just don't see any of them able to unseat RP. -

I truly believe we have our "5"star pg. And we have him for 3 more years. (At least 2 more). I'd be okay with a 4 star pg. Trey and Al could be be that guy who spells RP for a year. That would also show Lander we're all in on him. -

Dakich is irrelevant when it comes to IU hoops. He trashes Archie and the program every chance he gets. Meanwhile Archie is recruiting the state better than anyone in the last 25yrs., bringing back and getting support from past players, and getting the administration to spend money on renovations. I will trust our sources on BTB over anything he says(regarding IU). DD is the president of his own fan club. Hell, even Benson has said good things about Archie -
Unbelievable! What a scumbag.

That's what I'm hoping Archie is putting together here. As anything, more than one way to it. Go after the 5☆'s, but more importantly get guys that will get after it at both ends like Rob and Race(A☆'s). Class balance is vital with this approach. UVA,Nova,Wisky,PU,UM is proof that it can be successful
