(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I really get the feeling that Darius Garland wants to like IU. Edit: found a Yahoo article with DG's dad telling how he's a complete, born and raised, message board quality... IU basketball fan. My fifth grader is getting about 25 ppg in rec league, and I know that if by some billion to one shot he was ever good enough, I'd hand deliver him to IU, and he be thrilled that I did. And let me assure you, if that ever happened, the BtownBanners mod board would be en fuego! We WILL get an OV here. Got to. -
A spin on our returning roster/recruits

Yes! I know that "the former" is the intention of the thread, but it's the "unavoidable latter" that bugs me. -
A spin on our returning roster/recruits

I can't help it anymore...I know I might be alone on this thought, but I gotta say it: I really dislike this thread. There are only two categories of players on IU: Those that we hope will come back, and Those that we wish would just go away. But, that calculation is not as easy as it seems. As CAM (correctly) says, there are only enough minutes for nine or ten players. So, that makes a guy like Tim Priller, who ostensibly has been a good soldier for three years and doesn't mind foregoing minutes, a keeper. A thread that puts IU players in good standing ranked for who should be artificially shown the door if needed? We're not talking Perea or Hollowell here. Not my cup of tea. We will trim the roster by attrition. -
Who's declaring/transferring around NCAA 2017?

Just did a quick interweb search, and I can't find any evidence that either WIllis or Hawkins will get a college degree, though I suppose they might. -

UK has won one title in ten years of the Calipari era, and there has been only one Cal-recruited scholly player (Poythress) that received a UK degree during that time (though I think Hawkins may get one). The team plays in an off-campus arena, and their players stay at a private lodge. They only attract high-end players who have the specific goal of staying for as short a time as possible. This year they will likely lose Fox, Monk, Willis, Abedayo, Mulder, Briscoe, Humphries, and Hawkins. That's eight of their top nine. If Gabriel goes, their top returning scorer will be Wynard, a Kyle Taber-like player who averaged 0.7 ppg last season. With a new top eight full of five star players, the polls will undoubtedly make the exact same mistake from so many other years, and rank them way, way, way too high. They will be turnover prone and weak in outside shooting when they play accomplished teams. They are a failure. -
Really bad news for Purdoo. Dirty or clean, lots of recruiting all around their yard is about to uptick.

Four stars with a Nova offer...That was both Smith and Moore! BTW: Moore's teammates don't get him the ball because they "don't know how good he is." Smith's teammates? On what he wants to show in his final high school season and his individual and team goals: “As a player, I just want to get better at creating my own shot and being able to be counted on by my team to go get a basket or go make a big play. As a team, our goal is to win a state championship. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”

Sure...maybe. Clifton's size, length, and shooting ability are intriguing. But...even now that he's done with his senior year, he's still not able to assert himself in low-end AAU tournaments. From last weekend: The nightcap at the Donofrio Classic on Tuesday seesawed into the final moments before Evan-Eric Longino helped his Del Val VC team close out a 88-84 first-round victory over Hunting Park II. Longino, a senior guard from Germantown Academy and a West Chester commit, finished with a game-high 22 points and sank two victory-clinching free throws with 5.2 seconds remaining. Lower Merion’s Terrell Jones (14 points) and Wissahickon’s Shane Ford (13 points) helped complement Longino on the offensive end, while Hatboro-Horsham forward Clifton Moore anchored Del Val VC’s 2-3 zone. Moore had five points in his squad’s win over Hunting Park II. We are in a position to be choosey this year. We should choose the 6'7" ultra-athletic, 22 ppg, 10 rpg, Illinois 1st team all-state player first.
