  1. I definitely get what you are saying. I think it was more of the lack of versatility all around that year more than a Yogi thing. Outside of Vic nobody could score consistently outside of their go to spots on the court. I think if we go that deep into it, it is hard to say if it was personnel or coaching. Coaching is trying to get a player in a position to succeed. A players role is to succeed in the role given. Each player outside of Vic was really one dimensional with how they scored that year. A simple scouting report if used with patience would hurt us. Syracuse plays disciplined defense. Bad matchup any year with the players we had. It's a discussion that goes round and round but I could see a little for each side honestly.
  2. I think I gotta agree with the apologist on his point. Teams were sagging on Yogi cause they would rather him shoot than drive. That is just a basic stuff there. The only other two players sagged on late in that season were Vic and Cody. Vic took what the defense gave us. I too watch a lot of the old game films. On that team if you are playing pick your poison against us 100% of the time you sag on yogi so he can't drive and help on hulls and wat. Vic you let him shoot in spite of his percentage that year. Cody? You get under him and he struggles... I can't say I disagree with how yogi was utilized that season with how that team was constructed.
  3. There is chatter every time Lyle talks about anyone because he so impulsive with his actions.

  5. They won't fire him this close to the season for info already out there, but I bet the leash is short this year.
  6. The problem with both Albers and Lyle is their "at the moment" changes frequently. He gets some right but that dude jumps the gun a lot.
  7. Guys keep this thread on Bryant. The other stuff is matter of opinion either way that has no reflection on this kid. If you guys want to have the discussion you are having, start a thread and go to town. Thanks
  8. Yeah he is about as predictable as Michael Chandler was a couple years back.
  9. Well if he wants love he will get it.
  10. I don't always agree with how the over sign is used, but to stop recruiting a year would be bad. You never know which kids get homesick or will do something stupid to get kicked off the team. So many variables that don't involve Crean.
  11. Any reply with muffy gets an instant like and quote from me.
  12. I do think we will be better than preseason rankings suggest. I don't want to turn this into a Crean vs Knight or era vs era argument but I have difficulties seeing a team constructed like we have with a pace we play overcoming a team with a quality big. Could that Knight team overcome 20 turnovers with Shaq's 36 and 12 with Nover getting called for hand checks? We did it back then with precision. I think with modern rules Shaq shoots 20 free throws. Our team today would have to hit over 45% of their shots and 15 3s to have a chance without Hanner fouling out. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. Dude Shaq went for 36 and 12 in that game. We had a team. They had Shaq. Not sure that's the game I would cite to prove a point where an undersized center could help us win. If Shaq had a team half as good as we had that season we may lose. Plus the games are called way different now vs then. They don't allow you to body up very much and you can't grab at all. That is why someone as athletically gifted as Hanner gets into foul trouble regularly. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. I don't think Hanner is a 5. Beyond that I doubt Holt has ups anywhere close to Perea. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. Absolutely. Appreciative of what we have. I think Holt by all accounts will be a very solid addition. If we could add 6'10" with impact skills we would be damn scary. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. At 6'7" I doubt he could hang on the blocks for a whole game. We would give up a few inches every night.
  17. I know every recruit sounds great on the surface but man we are in severe need of bigs. Would love to have a 4 year caliber player with top 100 skill to complement and grow with Morgan. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  21. My thing is after last year he is exactly the type of player we need. Not necessarily him but players like him. Players that will develop over 4 years instead of the constant turnover or players expected to be major contributors as freshmen. That is of course unless we can consistently pull 5 star players at a specific position. Only a couple of teams at this point can truly do that. Hell even Duke takes on 4 year players so they aren't screwed if they miss on a stud. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
