Hate to hear this but I don’t blame him checking his options. Hope like heck he comes back, but best of luck to Armaan either way!

I do want to say I’m not trying to be mean, attacking, etc. I’m just saying if he IS healthy and there are no concerns, he should be a serious candidate because of his past. Not saying he’s the best candidate, but should be a serious candidate if fully healthy.

So you would take Beilein over Matta? Beilein hasn’t recruited for about 2 years, old age, thug comment hanging over his head, and there’s a family issue as well. But let’s take him over a healthy Matta who has the best winning percentage of I believe every coach in consideration, and has good connections within the Midwest! A healthy Matta is head and shoulders above most coaches in all of college basketball. I’m not saying he’s the best candidate, but it’s really annoying that coaches are being dismissed for one reason or the other, but I can easily do the same thing with the coaches you or other posters like just as easily. Some of the posters here are being unreasonable just because of their personal feelings on criteria. We all have opinions and that’s great, love that, but it’s the non-stop complaining about certain coaches that get really annoying!

I guess I don’t get why everyone is so negative about Matta?! If he’s fully healthy he’s a top coach, and there’s no denying that. Just finding it really annoying fans dismiss almost any coach because it’s not up to “their” standards! Howard to Michigan was laughed at and look at them this season?! Matta at least ha experience and made runs in the tournament! IU basketball is a dream job, but most established top coaches won’t leave their current job unless we get lucky! I wanted Stevens just as much as anyone, but some of you are unreasonable!!!

Hey Class, I’ve been worried this whole time that the coach we hire won’t get much of a chance if it wasn’t Stevens. Really hope everyone will get behind whoever we hire because this program needs our support with a new coach, even if we aren’t thrilled with the hire. See if the results come and then judge. Now, I may struggle to support with someone like Alford or Pitino, but still.

Exactly! I don’t like the style and it can cause a few letdowns, but I could live with his results!!! I will take a more boring style if that means a lot of wins and a title once every 10 years!

Fine by me, just threw those 3 names since it came quickly and there was talks regarding Matta and Woodson. Curious who it could be :)

Beard, Matta, or Woodson?

Saw an article from Rich Bozich that over the weekend, Woodson interviewed with Dolson and there’s interest in Matta. I actually like Matta if he’s healthy, but remain positive Dolson will make a great hire regardless! I really hope we don’t go mid-major or former player, but will do my best to support them to give them a chance.

I’m not a Mike White fan, but in his defense he lost his best player to that awful health incident on the floor. Probably cost him a couple wins. Just think about how worse we would have been without TJD?!

I know some find him an iffy candidate, but a fully healthy Thad Matta would be a home run hire, even with the 4 year hiatus. Keep Hunter on the staff to help with recruiting! If he’s healthy and shows no concerns in the future, we would be lucky to have him as our coach!

Well, now who we got? Lol. It is what it is, not sense of swimming in a pool of misery. Lets move on and focus on some really good candidates! With Stevens seemingly off the board, I guess we will see if it’s an already available former college coach or someone still in the tourney. Will be an interesting next couple of weeks for sure. Go IU!!!

Hey brother, don’t worry about it! I am curious because you said there will be denials and we got just that. So what changed, Boston counter or what? Really sucks but not surprised because it almost seemed too good to be true.

If true (meaning 0708 is incorrect we need to wait) then we need to tip our hat to Dolson/Co because he did everything he could to get Stevens. I still have total faith that we will get a top coach (Beard or Drew). Dolson is committed to bringing us back to a top program, regardless if we get Stevens or not.

Dude’s committed, got to give him that lol.

I say do it this weekend because of how highly viewed the first weekend is for March Madness. Best way to reach the entire college basketball world! :)

Really hope this works out, but imagine everyone being let down if we hire Chris Beard lol. I’m also part of the crowd that tempers expectations initially. While he’s a grand slam, we can’t expect championships right away. Let him get settled and going first. Of course we all will be going nuts once it’s announced, but still need to be realistic and not be too insane. :)

Absolutely!!! When we did one for the original HSN, it was so much fun! If this happens, we will need several. How could we not with Coach Allen and Coach Stevens leading the way?!?!
