All good brother, guess I won’t trade blows with ya :) lol. It’s all good to disagree with one another. I think it’s important to make the tourney, but not necessary. Give me a coach who’s busting his butt recruiting and developing, laying a great foundation setting up this program for future success.

I think there is a good shot at it, but I think it depends on perception. IU hasn’t been a good team for 8-9 years, and if IU has a good season and there was growth, then why should this place be toxic? IU fans gave patience to Woody and and Miller (or at least they should have), so why can’t fans give Coach Devries patience? We all want the same thing, but part of the fan base sees everything as a negative unless we have a top recruiting class and top team. Coach Devries built a tournament level team without two of his top players, and turned Drake around when it was a historically terrible program. I understand being hesitant and not a fan of the hire, but I guess I don’t get why people won’t give Coach Devries rope to get things going?! Woodson was not a good coach, but still landed really good recruits. So if we miss the tournament why is it doom and gloom? I don’t mean to go in circles, I just see things differently which is all good. We all want to win, so as long as we get there with Coach Devries then it will all be good.

Said it perfectly! Coach is building a team to compete, not just collect talent. He knows how to put together a team, and has been successful at doing so. Little resources/talent at Drake and lost 2 of his top players at WV, and still had success. I’m not saying the 1st year will be perfect, and I’m on record saying a tournament birth isn’t necessary in year 1. However, I think coach is doing a good job navigating a lot of stuff. A mess of things from the past 8+ years, and he was only at WV one year, didn’t have a ton of time building relationships with recruits and teams. A turnaround might take a him a little time, and coach deserves our patience!

I’m thinking we will start Bailey at the 5, but it’s hard to say. I don’t think it’s necessary that we need a starting bouncy center, but we will see. It does seem Bailey gives some flexibility, but would it be worth the risk to play Devries at the 3 and Bailey at the 4 against athletic teams? One thing I am looking forward to is Coach knows how to coach both sides of the ball, so regardless I’m excited for this team!

Might be a good foundational piece out of the high school ranks. Get some minutes behind Bailey, then hopefully be ready to start as a Sophomore.

Outside of a portal big, I would like to see Coach try to get some good high school talent. Might be a little late for that, but hope to see more high school recruiting than portal in the future. Coach mentioned that in his presser to do portal now then high school later, which is totally fine and agree with. Might take time to mend some of those high school/aau bridges. Regardless, love what the staff is doing right now!

Not at all. No one likes him behind the scenes and can’t get recruits to commit. It’s not like patience is needed or anything….

Things are going really horrible for Coach right now……

Dakich is the Skip Bayless of IU basketball. Avoid and ignore at all costs, not worth a single moment of anyone’s time.

Gotta be careful with that OldFart! I might disappear once May hits. I coach 2 baseball teams and it will be very busy. However, I am excited about this era of IU basketball so I should be around more often. Will make sure to cause a lot of trouble :)
