  1. With all due respect I sure hope not... this reminds me of scheduled substitutions no matter the game flow to get everybody equal minutes (or at least scheduled minutes). If we are so well conditioned (and we should be) I want at least 4 of these 5 (Rob, DeVonte, DeRon, Juwan, & Collin) up above 30.... that leaves 50 minutes spread between the rest (4-6 players) and go with the hot hand of the rest for a bigger chunk, or based on matchups with the other team. EDIT: Ok maybe that is unreasonable..... Maybe for the Bigs... but for the guards at the very least I think they should be above 30..... And I really think is DeRon can stay out of foul trouble he should be up there as well.
  2. I also think Green will & should start over Newkirk in the PG position.... if we run 3 guards (which we will at times but hope that is NOT the starting lineup) I think Josh is the 3rd for sure but I think he is better suited to be the 2nd/3rd guard vs the lead PG.... he has his attributes; his drives (if he learns how to finish consistently), his demeanor, his experience, etc but he doesn't have the vision that Devonte has, he doesn't have the "IT" that makes those around him better.... I see that in Green. I also give Green a little bit of a pass on the more turnovers than assists as that was part of playing in FCTC system.... and trying to make things happen that the other guys may not have been ready for.... after playing and practicing with him for longer they will see those passes coming. I think he is just as strong a defender as Josh as well, if not better.
  3. You are forgetting Hartman.... I could also see McSwain getting more run than Moore at the 4 spot.... I am very hopeful in the progression of De'ron Davis but if he has any foul issues Moore almost has to play the 5 and Morgan, McSwain, & some Hartman probably at the 4.
  4. Agree it could go either way but somebody as close to him as I would assume Chuck Martin still is saying something like "...begins his journey to the NBA." Of course his journey could include another year as a Hoosier I suppose.
  5. Sounds as if JBJ he isn't going to be at IU next year....?
  6. This is a ridiculous move by the BIG.... I already hate the idea of playing our conference tourney a week early so maybe I am biased, but there is a much better way to make it happen than this cluster.... Every team in the BIG has at least 2 weeks during conference play that they only have 1 game... eliminate that and you have made up your 2 games... Start the BIG conference slate 1 week early instead of squeezing a few games in a month early then going away from conference for 3 weeks. (I understand this option may be more difficult as many teams already have games scheduled in the non-con the last week of December).
  7. That was supposed to be the point of the article... a Crean point of view that it isn't that he is not in demand but rather he is being picky because he wants a better situation, conducive to winning..... As if he didn't have that before... Mentions that several have reached out but he wasn't interested.
  8. http://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/columnists/randy-beard/2017/04/26/beard-crean-plans-pickier-when-comes-his-next-job/100952316/ Crean subtly throwing Glass under the bus? Talking about South Carolina's AD saying "He gets what is means to be part of a team.... You've got to have people who have an idea of what it takes to be successful."
  9. While technically true this season that is on Crean more than on Miller.... It is because Crean left us in this situation... but under normal circumstances in Archie's world we would possibly have only been using 11 scholarships last season, then OG leaves and we bring in 3 more.... and if JBJ or TB leave then we roll this season with 11/12 scholarships again. Never need to have a situation like we will have next year with possibly 7/8 open positions we need to try to fill. Never have a situation where we have to "force" somebody out for the next shiny recruit. Always leaves room for somebody that happens to fall in our lap or fixes a need via grad transfers etc...
  10. Technically 3 have to give up their scholarships... Including OG who is giving his up for the opportunity to go Pro... Comment was mostly said in jest as Recker had just said nobody is giving up their scholarship without adding any context so my reply that 3 are is technically true but sounds much different without context such as the OG context above.
  11. LOL Yea I knew what he meant... just couldn't resist giving him a little ribbing... (Just messing with you Recker no ill will ) I actually assumed he meant nobody would give it up and play as a Walk-On or just walk away from the game now that they have a degree.
  12. This should really be a Shirt!!!!!
  13. I think he is saying Moore doesn't want to redshirt... so if CAM pushed the redshirt then Moore decides on his own to not attend IU. Makes it look like CAM really wanted him and didn't push him out nor have to get rid of somebody else already on scholarship.
  14. Just read an article about the Derby Classic that he is playing in this weekend and his quote was that he reaffirmed his commitment to IU.... I hadn't heard anything about him and had just assumed no news was good news as far as him not asking out of LOI etc... but this is confirmation which is better than my assumption!!!! :) Welcome Justin and lets see you do your thing this weekend!
  15. no... Just because they declare doesn't mean they will ever get feedback. But they have to declare to be eligible to receive feedback. NBA teams can invite any declared player in for a meeting but don't have to, and only a select few are invited to the combine. But the NBA team can't even invite a player if they don't declare. To compare this to corporate America. I currently have an open position in my office, I can invite any applicant for an interview but I'm definitely not inviting them all... I'm also not going to interview somebody that never even applied.
  16. I feel like Hartman it's going to be starting even if we don't lose them. Newkirk/Green JBJ/RoJo Hartman Morgan/Davis Bryant
  17. In that case I got 16 guys on scholarship that are in category 1. The thing is they ALL must know their role on the team, and if it is #10-16 then they should not expect playing time but better be ready to work their tail off in practice to help the team. With all that being said we obviously can't keep all 16..... so I think this thread is interesting in that it gives a snip of how our fan-base feels this should be rectified... even if CAM goes a different route... I find it interesting how different my list is from the majority of others on here.... and I find it interesting to follow how CAM will fix it.
  18. 1 De'Ron Davis 2 Juwan 3 Devonte Green 4 Colin Hartman 5 OG 6 ROJO 7 JBJ 8 TB 9 McSwain 10 Newkirk 11 CuJo 12 Priller 13 Grant Gelon 1 Justin Smith 2 Al Durham 3 Clifton Moore
  19. I believe it guarantees a scholarship but not necessarily an athletic scholarship... they can't play but they could still finish their degree I believe under some other scholarship situation.
  20. no offense but isn't your statement purely hypothetical???? Unless you know much more than I do... I think it is very possible we have 1... I wouldn't at all be surprised if we don't but wouldn't be surprised with 1 either
  21. WHOA!!!! Who does that? ;)
  22. I think we are still 1 over...? But I may be incorrect... we used all 13 scholarships last year, haven't officially lost anybody.... and have 1 new freshman still signed/commited
  23. Sexton has looked amazing
  24. can find the whole thing on ITH.. for anybody interested in watching it.
