Anyone think maybe he could be subtweeting about last year? Could easily be that he's reflecting on players since removed. Either way, speculation as to what he really could mean or who he may be referring to is dangerous. Coach has the program's and his players' best interests in mind, so I'm sure this isn't something meant as a jab. Maybe basketball4iu can give us an update on how everyone is doing thus far so we don't have to speculate. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet. -
Just to speculate, I'd say it is very likely a player that he expects to contribute. That narrows it down. I've seen video/vines etc. of Troy, Rojo, Blackmon, Yogi, Devin, Max. Stan hangs with Troy and Devin a lot, I think they run together. So, based on next to nothing, I'd say Hanner. Although basketball4iu notes that Hanner has been looking much improved.
Actually, basketball4iu said he looks better than Priller and April. Priller only had offers from the likes of Incarnate Word in May of his senior year while this kid was at least good enough for better than that, so I don't consider that too high of praise. He also said April had potential but was a project. Plus workouts with a team are a completely different beast than actual games. This kid was just a decent shooter against bad competition. I can't see that translating well to this level, especially not when the only B1G team he played shut him out completely. Plus now we find out it's not just a one year deal, it's two. Really? If we're having to go after kids that weren't good against bad competition than this program isn't in as good of shape as people think. We're not talking about kids the coach wanted despite better options, we're talking about kids the coach was forced to go after because the better options told him no.
Once again, no sense in blasting a kid that we haven't seen play. We've heard you say that you don't think he can cut from the moment this rumor started, move on. Welcome to the program, Nick. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet. -
Trying to get leadership from outside the program may or may not work. People said Evan Gordon would bring leadership and he was coming from a better conference than this kid is. There is no guarantee the team will follow a kid that was nothing more than a role player on a bad team in a bad conference.
No one said he will be a leader on the team. He possess leadership ability and hopefully he can use that to help the team. I understand and agree with your point about bringing in outside leadership, but I don't understand your reason for knocking this kid before anyone has even really seen him play. basketball4iu has seen him in the gym with the other players and has said he looks like he may surprise some people. We'll see what this kid can do once the season starts. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet. -
IDK, ask Basketball4IU. Seriously though, no one could begin to guard PG. TWill has the length, but too slow laterally. Same for Hanner. Our Guards aren't long enough. He would need doubled/tripled all day. I would probably put TWill on him and dedicate a Big to pressure when he flys by.
Not to take this too seriously, but that could be a huge help to our guys. They need to absorb everything they can from PG. Could form a long term relationship too. He's been known to make it down for a big game or two. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
