DDV had many—including me—happy to see improvements in the analytics over the course of the season. Well, that has ended. IU was preseason 40 on KP and is now 41.

Widest margin in the IU-PU rivalry since the 1969. It was rough on many fronts looking that up including scrolling by the 2014-2021 stretch where IU went 1-12. EDIT: Apologize for posting the same thing as @Uspshoosier. I just now saw it!

What’s wild is that this is true and the mood I’m in all I can think about is how easy it is for a high major team to make the tournament! You don’t even have to be very good, just mediocre…and yet it’s been such a struggle for 10 years

Dorn had is only FG attempt of the half waived off. Quite a game for the starting 5 to just not show up, Tucker aside. Really hope that next season we can stop penciling in 20+ point losses any time we play a top tier team.

He sucks as a coach in general. 23-43 in the A10 at Rhode Island with an above league average NIL. Used to have fans now the arena is empty, despite no Covid bubble. But this is a serious digression haha I don’t think anyone here wants Woody or Archie type hires ever again and we’re literally discussing among the two of the all time disappointing runs in IUBB history; just each have slightly different takes on *how* bad each is/was in their own right

Looking ahead a bit and fully leaning into this wave of optimism, I know most feel our remaining wins are home games against NW and Minny and a potential road win against OSU. But….worse IU teams in recent memory have faced better PU teams in Mackey and come away with a W. Headed into that game, IU will have 5 days off between going to Illinois whereas Purdue between now and then have: @ Nebraska, @ Iowa, and vs Michigan. They did not look good at all against Oregon, and we could catch them in another rough stretch. I would love to see Lamar Wilkerson play as many games in an IU uniform as possible and hope we can snag another Quad 1A win to get as good a seed as possible in the NCAAT, rather than being the lowest 10 seed and drawing the toughest 7 seed and 2 seed. Imagine Wilkerson dropping 40 in March!

Feels like momentum really shifted when Alexis was on the bench and Bailey had a horrendous segment. Hope they can protect this 6 point lead in the final 4! Really too bad this is only a Quad 2 game for IU which means it’s more of a must not lose game, but still huge for morale and momentum in the home stretch of the season.

Why did Dorn foul at the end? If we’re going to be metrics merchants, let’s lean into it fully.

Will likely fall to 3-8 in Quads 1 & 2. This game to me highlights why IU has been so frustrating for so long…it’s not hard to make the tournament! Neither of these teams are good and for sure one of them will be in. P4/5 teams only need to be at the median to make it, and the median, frankly, is not good basketball.
