I think there’s a decent chance this will happen, unfortunately. And it’s crazy because LSU just is not good. They beat a bad Clemson team and a bad Florida team….barely.

Oh definitely. The UGa-Bama game last year was hugely fun and competitive as well and Tennessee also looked fun…but Tennessee got torched by OSU and Georgia did worse against ND than IU did despite being on a neutral field.

Alabama just ran a 4th and 1 play that reminded me of what IU kept trying to run today — qb draw out of the gun. It failed for them too.

Game seems to be tightening up too. All started with a—wait for it—missed Alabama field goal!

I’m not in the least bit impressed by the Penn State and Drew Allar. We will see them at the end of a stretch where they are @ Iowa, BYE, and host OSU the week before.

Style of play difference between SEC and B1G is glaring. Penn St-Oregon feels similar to the IU game today. The Bama-UGa game has a lot more miscues and lot more risks/aggressive play.

Iowa gets both Penn State and Oregon at home and I definitely think they will win at least one of those.

They’ve been calling aggressively all game. 3rd and short situations they’re in a spread offense formation. Playing with house money.

If Gronowski is out, Iowa won this 13-10 as far as I’m concerned. Obviously want to win to keep CFP hopes alive but so tough to see a kid go down like that in this game

Yeah but I think the play calls were atrocious given what the defense was showing. It’s possible Mendoza is supposed to decide the option and just is in his head

Same. And I still think some miscues and play calling has made Iowa’s defense look better than it has played

O Line collapsed in the exact same spot both those plays

They’ve run the same play on third down three times in a row. Can’t stop those 5 yard throws over the middle.

A bunch of IU media are posting that Ponds is dressed and warming up fine with the rest of the team.

I tend to agree with this. For a CFP level team, it shouldn’t take a D’Angelo Ponds to stop Iowa’s pass game. Find a way to grind it out and win games you should and be ready for Oregon. I actually miss him more on special teams for this game. Feels like an explosive special teams play could be what puts this game out of reach for Iowa.
