  1. A tale of two former IUBB players …and then this
  2. Fwiw there’s a rumor circulating based on something Trilly posted that Darren Harris is a potential portal target for IU with some mutual interest. Harris was a top 40 recruit from Richmond, Va who was tagged as an elite shooter but buried on the bench in two consecutive loaded Duke teams. Same will probably hold true next year, though he has been on a bit of a heater lately in the ND and UVa games
  3. Interesting point. Not referring to this team or any other, but just as a general point: I think roster construction, portal management, and recruiting/development is part college coaching, and I don’t think it makes sense to take a roster as a given and then compare coaches. The roster is a reflection of the coach, what they’re trying to do, their strategy, their skill, etc. “Conditional on having this roster, who would do better” is meaningless because rosters are constructed by the coach to play the way the coach wants/is good at — it’s endogenous
  4. How many have made it to the *second round*? I think the stats you posted go S16 onwards are in line with what @Uspshoosier said but it seems you left out the main point about first four teams making it to the second round.
  5. Not looking good for Will Wade this afternoon. A loss to ND is rough
  6. They've struggled at home against some pretty weak teams too - needed comebacks or clutch shots down the stretch against Washington, Penn State, and Oregon.
  7. Alright so IU plays a MSU fresh off a road win at Mackey
  8. Sparty missing a ton of shots down the stretch. Some tentative and sloppy play to end this one
  9. After beating SLU, Rhode Island has dropped two in a row including getting spanked by St. Bonaventure this evening 94-76. Gotta hand it to him, Archie knows how to get paid. On dollars per conference win basis I don’t think anybody has had the level of sustained success (or optimization, rather) as him…33-44 in the B1G and now 24-45 in the A10
  10. I think this article from just earlier today discusses the gaps in the roster that has allowed teams to settle in defensively and make IU's offense really stagnant. It's not just related to athleticism, but also just skills the current roster lacks to get around switching (see: vs. Lindenwood and vs. Incarnate Word). https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/the-red-flags-for-iu-basketballs-offense-showed-up-in-early-season-buy-games/
  11. Yep, I feel last year in particular was pretty transparent with sub .500 SEC teams making it (“look at the volume good losses”) and ramming a brand having a clear down year like UNC into the first four.
  12. Is Ebuka Okorie for sure going to the draft? I’ve seen him play a few games in the ACC including last night. Kid is elite and if he’s not going to the draft, IUBB should do everything possible to get him. Seems like a good kid too. Not super highly sought after in the recruiting rankings. Had committed to Harvard and then flipped to Stanford. Don’t know if he’s really into the Ivy/Ivy Plus degree or experience but I know despite institutional and alumni wealth Stanford’s NIL is really bad.
  13. Former UVa coach Tony Bennett is now with LA Lakers:
  14. Unironically, there was a Brad who was the most likely next candidate. But I don’t think anybody on the board wants a conversation about how Brownell would do here.
  15. Steve Alford beats Eric Olen! I’m a huge fan of Olen and looking forward to see where he ends up. A true program builder.
  16. Really looking forward to the offseason and hopefully see the Ryan Carr’s impact on roster construction and decision making: https://www.insidethehall.com/2026/02/25/new-iu-executive-director-of-basketball-ryan-carr-excited-for-opportunity-ahead-in-bloomington/
  17. I’m so conflicted on this. On the one hand, late start. On the other, most hires bring some guys with them — staff, players, recruits — to help with the transition. Didn't want to retain any of Woody’s guys (makes sense), but odd that save for his son he didn’t want to keep anybody from his team either. I think it’s fair to say if that’s a choice DDV made then criticism is fair game.
  18. TBH it wasn’t difficult pre NIL era for any P5 university that spent money on basketball. It’s not hard to make it. You just have to be around the median in a P5 conference. IU has long spent a ton of money on basketball even within th B1G.
  19. Ryan Carr certainly has his work cut out for him
  20. Yes, but also Jalen Haralson isn’t playing and Duke is really that good. I’m really pulling for SC to takedown UK. It’s a close one in the second half. The online meltdown from BBN would be epic to observe.
  21. This might not be the best/most thoughtful way of phrasing it but it sucks to feel like Northwestern is closer to IU’s level than IU is to Purdue. Weird way to put it, I know, but what’s in my mind as I’m watching this
  22. SLU down 38-14 to Dayton! Schertz’s team really struggling on all fronts including being 0-10 from deep. Anthony Grant is one of those coaches who could be on the hot seat
  23. We’ll see if they manage to come back and I know how bad Louisville was under Kenny Payne, but I continue to not be nearly as impressed by Pat Kelsey as many on this board are. Really struggling against a depleted UNC team and seem to just rely on chucking 3’s without running any real half court offense or defense. Pretty sure beating IU on neutral floors the past couple seasons of two of his better wins, and otherwise just getting into the postseason by coming through a weak ACC
  24. My takeaway from this info is that Purdue fans don’t know ball
