  1. Who's hot board are we talking about?
  2. McDermott is 60 and has a building named after him at Creighton, as well. Should probably cross him off the list.
  3. Yeah that's the thing I have no idea what he's like. Never seen an interview or anything. I think being an introverted guy like Archie is a non-starter.
  4. Louisville and Kentucky had to go down a level to get their coaches. We have to be prepared to do the same if everybody else says no.
  5. Something I hadn't thought of until now. There is a comparison to Ben McCollum, and it isn't Curt Cignetti. It's Bruce Pearl. Both spent years winning big at the D2 level, before going to the mid majors and winning there, before getting a P4 job and immediately winning. The comparison is there, just a matter of if McCollum is capable of the same jump.
  6. Thank God there's a timeline on Brad. We can not look like we're outside begging in the rain for him to come save us.
  7. Isn't this what happened last time? They basically talked to no one but him?
  8. Crean was able to win 2 B1G titles and 3 sweet 16's while he was here. Also, there's a direct comparison between the two, because they both coached Marquette. Williams went farther more consistently in the tournament than Crean did.
  9. I think Buzz Williams is at the intersection of everything we look for while also being attainable. He wins at a high level in power conferences, not a dick to people on or off the court, and it wouldn't be moving from within the conference. Obviously not the first choice, but he seems like the best possible of the realistic hires.
  10. That's the most important question imo. That same offer would unlock a lot of coaches that otherwise would've said no.
  11. Not only that, but Drake was killing it before he got there. What if he's there in 3 years and looks worse? Just too risky right now.
  12. Agreed. He is good. But he doesn't win enough to justify his antics, and the fact he wins a lot and UC and UCLA still just want him to go away is proof we'd just do the same.
  13. I hated the Woodson hire regardless of who we thought we were gonna get
  14. And UCLA people still don't seem to like him.
  15. No I'm not even considering Stevens is gonna be the coach. Which is why I just refuse to engage with the Stevens to IU talk.
  16. We absolutely would care. Why am I so sure? Because look at the Crean era. We were ready to tear him apart and not even winning the big ten title in 2016 stopped people.
  17. If we're going that route, the only thing that's been verified is he's never been close to saying yes to the job.
  18. There's a reason I simply refuse to engage with any of the Brad Stevens talk. I simply do not believe it. I'd love to be wrong though.
  19. I don't think so either, but 9.2 for 10 years would get anyone in college, unless they just really love where they're at, and even then they'd probably take it.
  20. All those wins at UC and they weren't upset to see him go. Nobody at UCLA seems to be in a hurry to make him stay. It's the same with Crean where Marquette people weren't upset to see him go despite all his success there. We would get tired of him and drive him out. I'm just not OK with Cronin as head coach, period.
  21. If I had to pick, it would have to be Buzz. He has more consistent success and shown he can get the most mediocre programs up and running at a consistent high level. Plus the crazy antics of Cronin would drive us crazy and make us beg for the days where Crean looked sane.
  22. I still don't think he's that good. That final 4 run was a miracle run as an 11 seed. Otherwise it's been low ceiling with early upsets galore. Plus, we would get tired of him with his antics. Couple all of that with a buyout in the same range as Nate Oats and TJ Oztelberger, that would be a terrible hire in my opinion.
  23. Cronin would not justify the buyout required. He is not nearly that good. The other two would be great though, but he thinks it's gonna be Cronin, which I have a problem with.
  24. Somebody tell me this guy is full of it. A guy with a $16 million buyout, who isn't nearly good enough to justify it, can not be the guy.
  25. Any talk of a mid-major guy can be officially discarded after hearing this.
