  1. Do you know him personally? I don't get hating him this much.
  2. Wade is where Sampson was right before he got to Houston. He paid the price and is atoning for it. But I get it, hiring Wade would mean we wouldn't be able to act like we're above everybody else, and he wins too much.
  3. Or because that's the biggest name after Brad and Dusty to generate clicks.
  4. If Brownell makes a final four this year do we still feel hesitant about wanting him? That would give him a better two year run that pretty much any coach we've hired this century.
  5. I've tried saying that before. People go "I'd love to have Matt Painter as coach". Brother, we would have fired him after flaming out early with the Hummel era teams and followed it up with multiple bad years.
  6. So McCollums teams play slow, Bennett's teams play slow, therefore McCollum's ceiling is Tony Bennett? You are basing that off of nothing. Yes, what he did at the D2 level is impressive. That means jack squat when it comes to succeeding at the highest level of college basketball.
  7. McCollum isn't the Cignetti of basketball. Stop saying it. Cignetti was an assistant for Nick Saban, coached under some elite teams for a long time before becoming a head coach. McCollum has been buried in D2 for years and never sniffed D1 until this year, and is good but not different from how Drake was before he got there. And that's just surface level. People complain about Tony Bennett, but McCollum actually has a slower pace than Bennett did. The chances he ends in disaster is a lot higher than people are pretending it is.
  8. People can't use Brad and Dusty for clicks anymore so they've moved on to the next big name. Now it's Otzelberger's turn to generate attention before saying he's not interested.
  9. IU has felt like it's on the verge of implosion every year, and yet has made the tournament more times than Brad Brownell has in his time at Clemson. There's just no way to sell that hire to fans.
  10. You aren't understanding my point. Louisville and Kentucky did not get well established, long successful coaches. We should be thinking about the possibility that Cronin, McDermott, etc are not gonna be the coach, which is piggybacking on the original post I was replying too.
  11. I said established coach. Not ever being in a P4 conference and never winning a tournament game is not established. That should be clear.
  12. Kelsey didn't coach a game in a P4 conference and Pope has 0 NCAA tournament wins. They did not.
  13. I've had this in the back of my mind the entire time. We all want an established head coach with a winning track record. So did Louisville and Kentucky. I think it's important to keep an open mind.
  14. Not to mention the huge buyout. It's just not gonna happen.
  15. https://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/story/2025-02-18/ucla-mens-basketball-story-mick-cronin-500th-win-milestone Doesn't exactly sound like the guy we've been painting the picture of wanting out of UCLA.
  16. You say that now, when its only hypothetical. But when we actually had a guy who got to 3 sweet 16's and 2 big ten titles in 5 years we couldn't stand it, so I find it hard to believe this fanbase would be OK with it.
  17. Mick Cronin if going 30-4 only to lose in the round of 32 was a competition.
  18. Because he cropped out the years he had before this. You get leeway if you've had success.
  19. I think IU fans would like Mark Byington's style of offense. A ton of passing, movement and unselfish play.
  20. Finally some inside information that sounds realistic.
  21. McDermott did go to a power conference and was terrible. He's a great mid-major coach who should stay at that level.
  22. Darian DeVries and Mark Byington have to be ahead in line, they are proving they can win in a power conference.
  23. Can't wait for the next phase that comes, when all the "insiders" say well actually Brad was close until xyz happened, and they were actually right the whole time and you should totally believe them next time.
  24. Why is McCollum looked at so highly while Byington and Devries aren't? Mark Byington already made the jump from mid-major and is immediately killing it at Vanderbilt. Darian DeVries was at Drake and was just as good as McCollum is doing now, and is at West Virginia doing a decent job right now. With McCollum, we have no idea what he would look like in a power conference.
  25. Sounds like Woodson
