General Coach Candidate News

I am not a defender of Rabby normally, but I feel for him on this one. He has made a mistake (probably got normally reliable information), and has said he accepts and admits he made a mistake. He's "taking the L" for this one. Plus, as much as I think Rabby has lost some of his journalist side for his entertainer side, Tucker's dad is a problem. -

Well this isn't a jury deliberation, so there's that strawman taken down. -

Can we please put the myth to bed that Archie was a mind blowing hire? The guy was nearly universally thought of as the next great coach. He was turning down power conference jobs for at least a year. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20, but every school in the country wanted Archie Miller as their next coach. Woody, well, no argument from me there. -

That's for those university communities to decide. I care about Indiana University. I don't know if Sampson changed after Indiana or not and have no dug into it, but while he was here the team culture was a detriment to Indiana University and its community. As far as Chris Beard is concerned, I don't believe he has changed at all. -

Or BANGO as Paul Westhead used to say when Bo Kimble, Hank Gathers, or Jeff Fryer would drill a 3. -

No, I want the university to not be an embarrassment and have some ethical standards as well. I love the university, faculty, and students more than I love the basketball program actually. -

Pat Knight wouldn't even give Beard a recommendation last time we had an opening and that was before the DV stuff. Beard is a non-starter. I don't know as much about Wade other than maybe he's just too slippery to work with? That is complete speculation on some things I read about him though. Don't take that as gospel. I don't see Wade as a risk to do something to embarrass the U as much as just be a pain for administration consistently. Beard has the potential to embarrass and divide the university and fanbase. I'm not sure Btown cops would give him as much leash as Lubbock and Oxford. Depending on the situation maybe I could get behind a Wade hire. -

Dolson can do everything in his power, but if no one wants the job what's he supposed to do? -

I am always amazed at how many people take message board and social media rumors and comments as facts about what is happening. Just because random Joe who claims to know someone who knows someone does not make it fact. We really struggle as a country to separate group sentiment from fact. The facts are no one on these internet sources really knows anything, and if they do it's almost like Schrodinger's fact. It is both true and untrue since there is no way of knowing. Worse than that is when it's not even people who claim to know anything just posting random thoughts as if they are an expert on something and others get all worked up about it being true. Just because a bunch of people are arguing about Ben McCollum or Brad Stevens or Brad Brownell or anyone else doesn't mean any of them are actual favorites or even real candidates. -

What did Cashy really even say here? Indiana is talking to many people, doing due diligence. Active coaches are in communication through agents or other reps. Duh. This is every coaching hire everywhere in college basketball, college football, NBA, NFL, etc. Cashy has offered nothing here at Btown Banners but judgement of the fans and a big, wet blanket. -

She told me the fanbase was the problem. Since she uses "Spellcheck" (and maybe Grammarly) she must be the most intelligent among us. -

I am going to run every one of your comments through a grammar checker next week Ms. Dunning-Krueger. Oh man, this was dead easy. I didn't even need to write a script. For less than 10k, you can probably change the entire sentiment of the board with strategically created users and posts. Internet forums are pretty easy to manipulate, not that any company I have ever been a part of has done that. -

Spellcheck is not a proper noun. It is a common noun. I am in academia, and it's vitally important to me plus this formal message board that you correct yourself next time. -

Again for everyone out there, this is Kathy's insight summed up today by PitV AI: "You all don't understand, there is a process. We are contacting agents and representatives. There will be a new coach at the end of the season. None of you know that very particular information that I have unique insight on." -

Me too, but Pope and Kelsey were less than inspiring hires and have worked out well, so I'll hold out some hope. Plus, I really am tired of hearing how amazing things are every off-season. If Dolson believes BB can win games in Btown, I'll be right with him (until maybe I am not a few years in.) -
