  1. What types of reactions do you envision? Are you embellishing or do you really believe IU fans will become violent? Should Woodson be concerned for his safety, and that of his family?
  2. The odds are high that firing him now would produce a worse, not better, record over the balance of the season. Interim coaches rarely produce better results. The energy around the program will rebound when a new coach is named, and that’s not happening for a couple of months, at the earliest. Even with a mid-season dismissal, they aren’t getting traction on a replacement until the season ends. Nobody in an existing job is interviewing now. Those are the only obvious things at this point.
  3. Have said nothing of the sort, though I have said there’s a process as to how this will get done, and people are angry about that reality.
  4. Actually, it’s not a secret. I know some here are pretending otherwise. I’ve been very straightforward, which is why people are so upset. All good.
  5. I use the term because it’s accurate. I understand what some here want and I understand the “I’m hearing” gossip, though. We all want an elite program again, so the emotion is understandable.
  6. I’ve read some of what you’ve posted, but I’m also aware of what’s going on within the AD.
  7. I agree, it would provide a visceral solution for some, but it wouldn’t impact the long term health of the program, which should be the objective.
  8. Looking for a “competent” replacement won’t be inhibited by a six or seven week gap in time.
  9. Do you believe those discussions with “some people” only began today?
  10. What benefit to the program would exist by firing him now? How would that improve the program in the near term, which is the only real impact it would have. Would we be more competitive? Win more games? Serve the interests of the players?
  11. If there isn’t a remarkable change in the direction of the program in the next six weeks, we have to make a change, in my opinion. Of course, it’s always been fair to wonder why we chose to hire him in the first place, as well as what our options were at that time.
  12. Sounds interesting and I hope they’re a more reliable source of information for you.
  13. That’s the common thread, and it has been for a long number of years. They’re the “New Coke” in all of this.
  14. They aren’t “my guys” any more than they’re “your guys”. But I do understand the visceral reactions here. We haven’t had an elite program for several decades, and that’s due to a bunch of people in positions of leadership who were each convinced they knew what they were doing. Way too many cooks who can’t and couldn’t boil water.
  15. It’s only a little less likely than this scenario.
  16. I understand the emotions here, but they’re not going to sway how this gets done, and that’s true even if some people are having “discussions” last night and this morning.
  17. Recent history leaves clues as to how this will proceed, including the why, how and when, as well as the who.
  18. Oh, I think it will be nearly impossible for Woodson to remain as coach once the season ends, but those conversations aren’t as recent as last evening or this morning. Just wanted to be sure you understood the time frame, which is extremely unlikely to change. Glad to clarify and update this for you.
  19. I think you and others are going to continue to be disappointed if you believe we’re moving on Woodson before the season concludes. Not sure what conversations you’ve heard about since we lost to Illinois, but these aren’t people and this isn’t a culture prone to knee jerk decisions and actions. I know there are some restless people who are talking about “where do we go from here” (this is a direct quote), but it’s not a January action item.
  20. I don’t believe he’s ever been on anyone’s list, including Dolson’s. He’s a nice guy and I know he’s reached out to IU previously, but several things would need to change if he were to be considered if / when we have an opening at the end of the season.
  21. Not sure that’s an apt analogy, but nobody likes the results so far. As to Woodson‘s work ethic, no one worked harder than Tom Crean, but that didn’t create enough success to keep him around.
  22. What personal agendas are you aware of?
