  1. It's always good when UNC loses.
  2. I don't think we'll have any open scholarships available next year. DWS
  3. I don't believe it was punishment. I believe the reason CJ didn't play at Illinois was because Woodson wanted to go back to basics on defense. The seniors, Walker and Leal, have a better understanding of positioning and the defensive rotations.
  4. I haven't seen him in any mock drafts. My fear is players who were highly ranked out of high school often go pro because they feel like they're falling behind their high school/AAU peers. I hope NIL is good enough to overcome that.
  5. I love watching Reneau play. Most nights he's been the best player on the court. Glad to see his hard work paying off. I'm selfish and hope he comes back for one more year before heading to the NBA.
  6. It saddens me that our program has fallen so far that we don't consider home games against Northwestern and Nebraska automatic wins. IMO we should win all of our home games with the possible exception being against top 5 teams in the nation. Even in those games, we should be as competitive as hell. We must hold our team and coach to this standard.
  7. I find this surprising as well. I expect IU to win the rest of our home games. Vegas must really be down on us to have us a betting underdog at home.
  8. It definitely will get you a raise under Dolson.
  9. I'm tired of Texas complaining about the Horns Down taunt. If you want to flash Horns Up when you win, you have to live with Horns Down when you lose. Texas should quit whining. If you want the chants to stop, just win the game. I don't care when opposing fans chant Hoosier Daddy. That chant is at least 30 years old. Jokes on them that they can't come up with anything new.
  10. Izzo and his staff spoke to a witness prior to the police speaking with them. Could be an innocent mistake, but it looks bad.
  11. If you want to look at the world through lenses that see racism everywhere that's your prerogative. However, the case with Sampson had nothing to do with racism. I don't know how old you are or your history of following IU basketball. We had a coach in Bob Knight that was successful, tried following NCAA rules, and graduated players. As alumni and fans we took pride in that. Bob Knight had his personal flaws, but he ran the program the right way. The Bob Knight way. The IU way. After Mike Davis, Sampson came in and fans were excited. We had hired a winner. There was a minor issue with extra phone calls at Oklahoma, but we were certain he wouldn't do that IU. Why would he? It's IU, he wouldn't need to. Jump forward 1.5 years and we find out that Sampson and a coach were violating NCAA rules about phone calls at IU. The reaction was "we don't cheat here". Minor infraction here was compounded because when he was hired he told the administration that it would not happen at IU. Sampson and assistant coach Rob Senderhoff (Caucasian) both resigned under pressure. Dan Dakich assumed the interim coach role. After the season, Dakich released several players from the squad for academic and player issues. Other players chose to transfer. When Tom Crean took over I remember him saying that we are going to have student athletes and no longer have players majoring in eligibility. So, Sampson wasn't fired because of race. He was fired for not holding himself, his coaching staff, and his players to the high standards that we should have at IU. The Knight way, the IU way, the right way.
  12. Tom Izzo had issues at Michigan State that are as bad as what Alford did at Iowa.
  13. I think the reason it is so challenging is because it's hard to tell if they are winning because they are a great X and O's coach or are they simply out recruiting the rest of their league?
  14. Dane Fife was the analyst on the Minnesota/ Penn State game tonight. Imo, he did an okay job. Maybe a little too subdued.
  15. Reneau is at 41%, Ware is 42%, Mgbako is at 33%, and Galloway had been shooting near 40% after his 3 for 22 start. How's that?
  16. I want Reneau shooting threes. He's 41% on the year. But we run nothing to get Reneau or Mgbako open looks.
  17. I think we have adequate shooters. Our iso ball and heavy post style provides no rhythm for our players to shoot effectively or consistently.
  18. Maryland appears to be improving as the season progresses.
  19. Virginia up 32-9 at Louisville. Payne should not be coaching on Monday if Louisville doesn't come back and at least make it respectable.
  20. I hear Woody is clearing cap space to chase a big free agent.
  21. We are certainly an underdog. As I've posted earlier, I think we are talented enough to win. I would never wager on us winning. I'm not a complete fool. But I still hold out hope. I'll be focusing on improvement in the way we play. We've had a week to improve. Shot selection- are we focusing on getting the ball to Reneau and Mgbako. They should always be options 1 and 2. Be happy with an assist or even a hockey assist- this is primarily for Reneau. Please pass out of double and triple teams. Shooting threes- we need to shoot 20+ threes each game. Preferably by Mgbako and Reneau. Are we running offense to get open looks from three? Rebounding- All 5 players need to hit the defensive glass. We get so few fast breaks there's no reason for guys to leak out. Reduce turnovers- Play under control. Make the easy pass. Don't force passes when guys aren't open. Don't cheat off of good three-point shooters. Know the scouting report. Giving up wide open threes can get you blown out and gets their crowd into the game. Smile, have fun. The opportunity to play Division 1 basketball should be a blast. Play your @$$ off and enjoy it. Someday you'll be an old guy sitting at a computer wishing you could still play.
  22. I think we have taken the wrong approach to recruiting. IU would be better served by trying to recruit players in the 40-150 range who plan on being in college 3 to 4 years. Then we can add a top 25 guy once you have your foundation built. We aren't Duke or Kentucky that can bring in 4 or 5 top 30 players each year. Ware and Mgbako seem like good young men, but if they leave after this year what have we accomplished? Adding multiple one year mercenaries out of the portal does not build a program or a culture. Woodson's age doesn't help anything. He doesn't have the time to build a program the right way. Also, I think he prefers to use the portal like NBA free agency than to recruit and develop younger players.
  23. I'm interested to see how the 15 Big Ten Tournament teams will be decided. Since we will have unbalanced schedules, I would think a tool like the NET ratings would have to be used. Will they base participation off of only Big Ten games or the entire schedule?
