Wow….I love Cignetti’s personality, he had to change the culture here from a team that expected to lose to one that expected to win. I hope he doesn’t change a thing. I don’t think any of the coaches on our radar have that level of cockiness so I don’t think you have to worry. I wasn’t referring to his personality I was referring to his ability to assess talent and find the right players to plug into his system.

I refuse to take the bait on Beard’s history, but I wonder if this forum should allow the bait in the first place. The charges were dropped and the complaint recanted, so it borders on defamation to allow people to accuse him as if he was found guilty. I am not even sure that legally the school can use these allegations against him? That is all I am saying on the issue since I was not present and have no idea what happened that evening.

That’s true, but you have to have a coach that can assess talent and find guys that fit into your program….Cignetti gave us all a master class in that in football, now we need to find someone to do it for our basketball team!

Since we lost Stevens and May I am close to going back to Beard myself. He took Texas F’ing Tech to one shot away from a championship, he would win big here! I want a less divisive guy but I don’t want Tom Crean 2.0 and that is what the rest of the field looks like to me!

I predicted that all the close games Michigan has been winning would catch up with them, eventually your luck runs out. Look for them to be about a 6 seed and make an early exit.

Won’t stop them, but if you notice the media is too smart to throw around such accusations, because defamation suits can be very expensive. I have said that for the sake of unity of fanbase I hope we can find a coach most of us can rally behind, it is obvious that would not be Chris Beard, 10 years from now we shall see if those people were right, or wrong like they have been with many others!

I’m just using the Beard avatar because I think it is hilarious, Beard with Lucille is funny as hell! I will be changing it as soon as a final decision on the coaching search is made! But I will say this, if Dolson would pick Beard, I know it won’t happen, I would support the choice. But because of the way that choice would divide the fanbase, I hope he chooses someone less polarizing.

You are misunderstanding what I am saying? I said I understand why he is not being considered, I am not advocating for Beard.

That is the risk….I personally don’t see it happening.

I understand why Beard is likely a non starter, but I truly believe he will end up in 10 years being a lot like Bruce Pearl, a coach that a lot of programs wished they would have taken a risk on.
