  1. Agreed. This is a solid TEAM. You can tell these guys genuinely like and care about each other. Chemistry like that makes for a special team.
  2. My favorite player, because he exudes winning basketball. So smart out there.
  3. It’s not just that everyone has been involved, but that everyone (besides Leal, who has been injured) has played solid minutes. To have quality depth at nearly every position is only going to benefit us in the quest for championships.
  4. Don’t be a bit surprised that they beat Duke.
  5. Bring on the big boys - we’re ready. Only question is : are THEY ready for us?? They better be.
  6. Malik would go first, based upon play to this point.
  7. Overall, he’s had a good game. Not perfect, but providing good value.
  8. We’re down 2 key guys - including our AA - and have banged up a couple more tonight. We haven’t come close to playing as well as we can. and was 7:41 left, we’re up 17. Unreal
  9. Who knows? I think Calipari makes it up as he goes. After what that fanbase did to John Higgins, only the total sh!t of the universe being dumped on them is appropriate. No group has ever been more deserving of such vileness.
  10. Now, Calipari blames players:
  11. Wonder what Brooks’ mom thinks now.
  12. I will never, ever, feel sorry for them. They bought into the “Gold Standard” BS Calipari was dishing out 10 years ago because they thought it was the way they were going to stay on top after some down years with Tubby Smith. Wanna lay in a bed of roses? Well, gotta learn to deal with the thorns, too.
  13. Reneau plays like he’s in the middle of his sophomore year - not 4 games into his college career.
  14. Doesn’t surprise me that we started slow. Xavier took a lot out of them Friday night. Took a little time to get back into the flow.
  15. Only guy stopping Johnson was himself. But he came up big at the end.
  16. Oh, I don’t disagree. But you’re on the road. You aren’t going to get those calls, more often than not. Is it fair? Hell no. But don’t get drawn into something that hurts your team. Luckily, it didn’t ultimately cost us.
  17. If it is a point of emphasis, it IS a factor. Is it a dumb rule? Maybe. And should it be applied equally? Without question. But all because it may be a stupid rule or another team wasn’t called when maybe they should have, all that matters in the end is “did WE do anything which we could be penalized for?” That’s the ONLY thing that matters. Control what YOU can control.
  18. Love this. IU Basketball under Bob Knight was always known for being SMART. Sure, we had lots of talent, but we maximized that talent by making fewer mistakes. Hopefully Woody will incorporate that level of responsibility in our guys. Remember the Steve Alford charity calendar fiasco? When that whole thing broke publicly Alford and the sorority were arguing back and forth in front of Knight over responsibility: Alford said he told them he was glad to help with the cause as long as they cleared it through the Athletic Department; the sorority girls claimed he had not made such a request. Knight finally pulled Alford aside. “Their eligibility wasn’t at stake, Steve. YOUR eligibility was. You should have checked it out yourself.” That level of personal responsibility ended up getting us a National Championship a year later. (Well, having Keith Smart helped, too )
  19. Your last two paragraphs says it all. There’s a reason why teams like Michigan State are good year after year. Winning Basketball. Doing the little things that beget winning and avoiding things that cost you.
  20. Should he have been? I don’t know. If you are being technical about it, probably. But staring back at an opponent as you’re running downcourt as opposed to pausing - however briefly - and saying something? I’m of the opinion No One should be engaged in one-upmanship. ESPECIALLY if it’s something that can cost your team. You and I could debate all day long on whether Xavier players SHOULD HAVE been called for technical fouls. The only thing that matters is whether or not we did anything to get them. Don’t cost your team.Life on the road is difficult enough. Why add to the difficulty?
