  1. Agreed. It would be so much easier to get Mullins to flip if he was committed pretty much anywhere other than the 2-time defending champions. Hurley is the best coach in the country. That's probably an insurmountable obstacle for nearly any coach.
  2. I'm actually a little worried about this. How is Cody qualified to do this, exactly?
  3. Here's a run-down of Devries' offense when he was at Drake for anyone who is interested: https://247sports.com/college/west-virginia/article/deep-dive-statistical-analysis-to-understand-the-darian-devries-offense-229278704/
  4. LOL. I'm not claiming everybody thought Woody was bad. I'm saying lots of people saw the issue with Woody and his lack of college experience. I get that you're upset with the hire, but come on now. There were lots of people who were worried about Crean too. I remember going to Marquette's forum when he was hired and seeing how many people who happy that CTC was leaving for IU. That wasn't good at all.
  5. Lots of people didn't think Woody was a great hire. LOL He had ZERO college coaching experience. Come on now...
  6. Anybody know what offensive system Devries runs?
  7. It seems that many of the folks who are not thrilled with this hire thought we were going to get a whale. Those of us who had ... uh ... different expectations are pretty happy. There are exceptions, of course, but that seems to be pretty true. I hope that Devries is like Cig and has a solid plan for next year, but, unlike Woody, really starts establishing recruiting relationships with high school kids. That's massively missing right now in the program. Woody's model wasn't going to allow any kind of consistency in the program (except BAD consistency).
  8. COuldn't be more different than Woody.
  9. I'd love to see it, but not sure that he has the name to to Mullins away from Hurley.
  10. That was my worry all along. For those of you who are older. I had the worry of a Fred Akers at Purdue type of situation. I know that some older guys can work out, but I was far from sold on a coach like Jay Wright. He was a great coach at Villanova. Do you really think that he is still the same coach at 62 (or whatever age he is) after being out of the game for a few years? By that I mean, do you think that he's interested in grinding the same way that he did when he was 42? Of doing the extra 10 or 15 percent that it takes to be the best anymore? Maybe he would, but I would wonder. I would honestly wonder the same thing about Stevens and I even articulated that on here. He's not coached at all in a while and not in college in forever. Would he have the same fire at all to do the grunt work required anymore to really be successful anymore? I wonder...
  11. I think it's great. I'm glad that Dolson went with a young, hungry coach. And one with some experience to boot.
  12. Can we finally admit that Dolson didn't have a coach locked up for weeks and weeks? It seems that he had requirements for a coach and used a search firm to help him identify candidates, just like other teams do. It sounds like Devries met with IU and also met with Iowa recently. It sounds like Dolson "retired" Woody w/o having a coach in his back-pocket. No smoke screens. SImple explanation. Occam's razor.
  13. Well, it's not the coach's job to get the players shots, so... LOL
  14. The Syracuse zone showed some Xs and Os weakness in Crean.
  15. This is very true. I remember Marquette fans being glad that Crean was gone. That was the first red flag about him.
  16. That would be much more likely than not given this search. In fact, it will probably be announced by 5:00 pm today. LOL
  17. Right? Your seed is always going to be super low in the tourney.
  18. Is it possible that athywithaCK (I don't want to actually say her name to accidentally draw her/him out) is actually Zach? The man is talking a lot about process here...
  19. It is with Woody was coach, that's for sure.
  20. Is it 2021 again? Am I in a time machine? LOL
  21. That's exactly what people were <fairly> saying about Brownell in the ACC, too.
  22. That would be an AMAZING twist. He was Brad Brownell all along...
  23. So today's name is going to be Jay Wright? Got it. At least we do spread the names around. LOL
