I know it's easy to hype up interviews and what not, but the fact that he had a lengthy conversation with JHS tells me a lot...he would see himself as a similar type guard at IU. I honestly believe our incoming high school class next season will mirror what we brought in the portal...talent. Give me Haralson, Mullins, Sisley and Moreno, and a player or 2 from the portal and let's continue to gain momentum on the floor as well!

It means whatever Woody is cooking has made him lose a bunch of weight this off-season. Also probably overpaying for players, but what choice do we have? It could also be around $6M he's cooking?

What do you honestly think the staff's pitch is to visiting portal guards?

I know we're shopping in the portal right now...but man, that quote from @Chris007 about having a terrible offense for guards... I'm honestly worried we'll get a few from the portal or whatever, have an increased NIL payroll, and roll out the same @$$ **** we rolled out this year, MINUS Ware... Can you imagine our record this season if we didn't get Ware and/or Mgbacko? And MM inquired to us. Basically fell in Woody's lap. I don't mean to sound so negative, we are A LONG WAY from being competitive regularly on a national spectrum

I know this has been shared quite a bit...but portal shopping is supposed to plug in gaps in the roster, not build it. Putting a band aid on a wart doesn't heal the wart, it hides it. So what if we get 2-3 really good players from the portal...how do we recruit 2025? No offense, but our high school class in Indiana is loaded (I know this is common knowledge) and not getting any in-state kids will put us right back on the portal track again. I'm old. I hate how it is, how it's been, where it's going, etc. Losing McNeeley was a major gut punch

I have a question that I don't want to scour 460 pages to find the answer to...why did Woody's deal have a buyout at all? It's not like colleges were lining up for his services prior to IU?

I think this goes without saying, but our fan base (myself included) are a mess $$$ and politics rearing their ugly heads in this situation...don't want to wish time away, but man, this is going to be a long, weird 14 day or so stretch... Haven't posted here in a while until earlier in the week...I'll give you my stance since I'm bored on a Saturday... I've been a fan of Woody, thought he was the right guy to bridge the gap and get IU back on the national map. He did so in scheduling...but poor roster construction and false beliefs in our guard play have led to a steadfast tumultuous situation. In the year 2024, where every aspect of the college game is discussed and dissected in so many places, a move needs to be made now. Anybody who thinks we'll be in a better scenario in 12 months is really too optimistic for me. I'm on the Chris Beard train, and I'll simply explain one reason. He wins. That's what this fan base craves so badly, right? He wins. Baggage? Yeah, you're gonna have some with any "big name" hire. I can be swayed to Bruce Pearl, but that has Billy Donovan seasonings on it (jmo) I was awed by Dusty May and FAU last year, but again, it's 2024. His name to IU will have 0 relevance to 98% of the college world. Just my opinion again... I'm not always right. But it's not the "time in life" to sit and wait any longer. The NBA background helped with recruiting bigs, and developing bigs. JHS hid our poor guard development very well last season. 1. Chris Beard 2. Bruce Pearl 3. I'll be honest, Chris Collins (since he's never getting Duke job) or Will Wade (ok, I'm kidding now lol)

we seem to be stuck in Coach Knight's shadow forever...next coach should have 0 attachment to past at IU. Just a winner. A proven one at that. A coach that your players will run through a brick wall for... I'm showing my age a bit here, but it's 2024. Every angle of every play of every game is video'd and critiqued by thousands of people who claim to have an answer, even though they may not know $hit about basketball. I'm wondering how the NIL $$$ will be presented if CMW is back another season... Unless we win out, after every loss, it's going to be the same conversations everywhere. Who/what/when will this get fixed? We live in a world where a lot of people want instant gratification/results. It's time to do it, now. Not wait, now. Sorry, after reading this, I didn't really provide many answers. My wish list is Beard, then Pearl, then ? I'm not ignorant to what Dusty May has done at FAU, but he has no relevant connection to IU with today's players....they won't care that he's a former manager is what I'm getting at.

Yeah, but they've gotten 2 of em to commit/sign... Indiana won't be as attractive to some kids like it is to others. Our history won't mean as much, etc. I have a feeling the staff may be using a different approach...such as let's keep it quiet for now. Guarantee they're working several hours a day behind the scenes.
