I'm with you on what you refer to as the scheme -- still looked like "Woody ball" for good stretches but -- lineups were better as someone pointed out above, we have a heck of a point in Rice, which changes a lot on its own, Bako looked a lot better to me, 3-point shooting was way off in the first half but we shot I think it was 11 outside shots and in the second took good outside looks and made 50% of them, and end of the day talent (that hustles) and size usually will beat lesser talented teams. We have the talent -- across the floor -- with a terrific point guard, and especially as this was without a key player in Gallo and what likely will be a key player at some point during the year in Tucker, my optimism level is going up. So, agree also this could be a very good year, and that's kind of despite CMW (though I do want to give the staff credit for running different looks during this exhibition).

I've been a heavy critic of CMW but this was a very solid W and we looked good in the second half (along with Tenn) after both teams played really sloppy in the first half. So PU lost its exhibition, we won ours against a very good Tenn team.... Imo, we have plenty of reason to be at least cautiously optimistic about our conference chances, and PU? Not so much.

And some thought he’d make a good NBA player. This is who he is. He doesn’t have B1G refs while he elbows and bodies college players now. Now he’s playing against pros - men, and now he’ll actually get officiated. Can’t wait to see him try to defend Wemby, Giannis, Joker, et al.

4-8 in second hald iirc. Tenn was just as bad from 3 in the first, both teams came out looking like it was the first exhibition game of the season and against a good team

My overall impressions - Rice is hands down our best all around player, best point since Yogi, and the guy who will take this team as far as it will go - Malik is a deceptively effective scorer, quietly racks up points, and today looked better moving the ball, not overcommitting to taking the shot - Our perimeter D looked better, hard to take too much from this game particularly because of how bad the shooting was from both teams in the first, but we forced TN into a shot clock violation late in an important possession, looked solid Gallo is going to play more than Car Bako is longer and stronger, very good scorer, needs to be more consistent but a very good second half We still need work creating space for shooters. TN had several 3’s off drives from their point, we didn’t Exhibition or not, true road W against last year’s EE team? Very good W

I think Tucker has the most upside for next level, but will need to develop the outside shot (lacking) and we haven’t seen what he does defensively yet

I think you must have missed much of the second even the TN announcers were talking about how well he played. He was killing it for a good stretch and was our best scorer for a solid portion of the game.
