  1. One can hope....
  2. Kind of puts a funny spin on the pre-DeVries' posts wishing for Pearl, lol
  3. If you build it, they will come
  4. Certainly could be, I haven't seen her play have just read the writeups reflecting (along with Ms. Basketball - IN) how good she is. About the only question / critique I have of Moren is that, IMO, she has to start utilizing good, recruited Frosh more. Not playing them hurts recruiting down the road, and notwithstanding physicality of B1G/college, a talented scorer etc. can be integrated instead of sitting on the bench. Ideas on who else along with Ciezski will play major minutes?
  5. Who is expected to start or play significant minutes this season, and who are the expected key scorers other than Ciezki? And is this a year when Moren gets a frosh heavily involved- Maya?
  6. Imo Cig and DeVries are cut from the same cloth. Cig is a football mind who has developed prior programs into winning teams. DeVries is a basketball mind who has developed programs into winning teams. I am optimistic
  7. Naah disagree those are clearly different you’re reaching to try to support your view (no offense intended). Our total revamp with 0 returning players after complete departure from normal recruiting and basically 8 years of crap is pretty unique. It is what it is. If you can’t believe that 2-3 years is a reasonable turn around time that’s your call, I just don’t agree. Our hopes are similar, but our expectations differ
  8. Neither was a complete rebuild of all players after the former coach turned the team into one of the worst shooting teams in the country over 4 years of horrible coaching, and completely disregarded recruiting and building ties with HS and AAU programs to instead throw money — lots of money and the same money you keep talking about — at multiple portal players, several of whom were highly regarded individually, but who did not fit as a team and failed because of lack of a good coach and system and for a ridiculous, outdated style of front court based basketball. And that was after the Miller years. No, those 2 programs are not apples to apples and even if they were they’re outliers. You can say you want immediate results with money until the cows come home, it doesn’t make it more likely. We all wsnt fast results, but with a complete rebuild with 0 returning players and a new coach, immediate high end results just aren’t likely. If DeVries does it it will be special. Regardless, at this point I’m optimistic for a 2-3 year turnaround— and hello, Crean’s rebuild from nothing to the Cody - Yogi year and Vic’s development is at least a lower bar.
  9. Agree. The reality is that the program needs rebuilding (again) after 8 years of mediocrity under CAM and mediocre Mike. Won’t happen in 1 year and yelling about how we should have immediate top 10 money and recruits and then saying we’ll see if he does well this year is a dead end game. Can DeVries build IU up with his transfers, recruiting, development and system? Personally I think he will. He’s a basketball mind with proven program development history and coached for years under and with top tier coaching staffs. This season will tell us some things but it won’t happen over night. For me, in 2-3 seasons we’ll have a pretty clear picture of where he can take IU
  10. Sounds like we got a fantastic player in Addy, her coach is going crazy with the superlatives— the Larry Bird of women’s bball…. Personally I like the “Bad Woman”. Best defender and passer in NJ (best in country per her coach) and a selfless win-first hard working star. Very much looking forward to seeing her play
  11. As a kind of funny (not so funny) analogy to the professional world, this id basically exactly what big law does. Smaller law firms, boutiques like mine, recruit and develop young talented kids out of law school, investing 1-2 years in money, training, giving them practical experience, courtroom time, depositions, client interaction, we grow them from raw, smart kids into young lawyers, and then big firms poach them after those 2 or so years, with big money. NIL is not just more like the pros it’s more like the professional world — and man in that respect I hate it. I just lost my best young associate yesterday to big law, I “recruited” her out of law school, hired her beating out the comp, and my litigation team trained her for 2 years, but then as is now typical, big law poached her with the money (my firm has unfortunately become known for developing good young attorneys). I still believe in the value of recruiting and developing college kids in the program, building a core and culture, not having to try to mesh a whole squad like this year, which is obviously ridiculous, but yeah generally there will always be good, developed, proven and experienced talent in the portal and missing on frosh is less of a problem than it was before
  12. Well, let's think about that...
  13. Meh - we already have an Addy
  14. Definitely a good early schedule for a new team in their first B1G games and learning to play together. Should help them continue to build chemistry and work out schemes and timing early on, really couldn’t have asked for a better early start
  15. OK I am going to go look for that tonight...
  16. First, love the name. Gigi Battle. Second, she looks like a warrior. Looking forward to seeing it official, Gigi
  17. Man, it really is disorienting when the actors you admired growing up, and still do and love their films as an adult, grow old and pass away. First Hackman now Redford. One of my favorite if not my favorite actors. All the Presidents Men, Three Days of the Condor, Ordinary People, The Sting… RIP Redford.
  18. Actually, that misses the point
  19. Thanks for posting. This covers all bases for me. The scrimmage is on Friday night in the Hall and its open to the public. That's kind of like the old midnight madness event when it was just a scrimmage. Now they've moved to a new college event on campus, but the scrimmage in the Hall is part of it. Nice -- all good
  20. Awesome- great to see a nice strong commitment- welcome aboard Addy
  21. It’s the wing possibilities I see (think about) with DeVries bringing shooting and playmaking around him. I love, love the upside with his size, skillset, experience and moxy. Love the attitude!
  22. Exactly the kind of kid (if you can call him a kid) that could instantly up IU into a punch you in the mouth EE - highlight reel type team that would springboard IU going forward. Would love to see that kind of legit smashmouth talent at IU again. Think junior Vic kind of highlights. Would be outstanding
  23. Probably not, just 3 players relatively small amount and not sure if it’s a fed offense- — but then I’m a civil litigator I don’t practice criminal law so don’t have specific knowledge here
