  1. Loyer said that FDU didn't make him uncomfortable at all really. Yikes
  2. Yeah, TJD (obviously) and Race getting the bulk of the run in the front court with Malik getting a solid amount of minutes feels pretty solid in the front court. It would be nice if Geronimo could give them a spell for a handful of minutes again in R2, but not sure if he has earned the trust to do that. Seems he and Reneau are always good for at least 1 or 2 head scratchers a game. But Malik is a pretty good 3rd big. I hope Bates can just see the ball go through the hoop a few times early on vs. Miami and start to get going. We didn't shoot well at all as a team today, so I'll take a pretty dominant win... knowing we can play a lot better, too. I'm cautiously optimistic but need to look more into Miami tomorrow
  3. Posting now that the game is solidly in hand... wow, pretty ideal first round! If we rebound like we did in the second half and Race/Trace play like this, sky is the limit. It will be significantly tougher from here on out but I think we can all be fairly pleased with what we saw tonight. Hope the game plan for Miami is rock solid and we stay laser focused. I will not be posting during a game for the rest of the season considering things seem to go way better that way on the court lol
  4. Purdue lost and I didn't post until the game was decided... Out of superstition, I'm going dark until the end of our game. Let's goooo Hooooooosiers!!!!
  5. Can't we just sign 2-4 Montverde kids and the Indiana Mr. Basketball every year? Lol... only kinda kidding/wishing
  6. Tonight does show a lot of his flaws as a coach IMO. The FDU game plan was marvelous and really well executed. Purdue couldn't buy a bucket, the coach can't control that. But they got punched in the mouth and flustered, and adjustments didn't really work. The roster may do well in B10 bully ball, but the last 3 years show it has obvious shortcomings in March. On talent alone there is no reason for FDU to win this game: They had guys playing D2 ball last year They won 4 games last year They are the shortest team in D1 They gave Purdue bulletin board material and PU still folded. Charmin soft. FDU got a lot of lucky bounces (almost all of them if we're being honest). There were bad calls/missed calls going both ways. That's just basketball. But the fact FDU's coaching was energizing his crew while Painter was barking at the refs and letting his players hang their heads/shake their heads/whine at the refs, to me, shows Painter let everything get away from him tonight. I mean, when a #1 seed loses to a #16 seed, the coach has to be at least somewhat accountable, right? Man this will be a fun card to play for years
  7. This may be a controversial take to some here, but I don't really see Painter as that great of an X's and O's coach either per se. In fact, I find him kind of gimmicky, with the whole 7'+ scheme thing he's had running for the last however many years straight (or almost straight)? I went to IU during the Isaac Haas/AJ Hammons years... we got 1 win vs them in Bloomington. So I'm sorta reveling in this one tonight. They will always be little bro.
  8. Yeah, the Smith and Loyer backcourt really shows what an ace recruiter Painter is......
  9. Yes, definitely top 3 if not #1. Makes less than 0 sense. I assume it has to be related to money for some reason. Because if you can compete all year and win at this level, its straight up unfair to take away the opportunity to do it on the biggest stage
  10. They took FDU coach's words of encouragement as disrespect. What do you expect your opponent to say? Lol. Eat **** PUewwww
  11. Right. A former D2 school won the tournament and because of a technicality, could not participate in March Madness. Wild.
  12. Taking down the 7'4" NPOY .. according to some people... aint too shabby anyway
  13. The shortest team in D1 taking down the team with the tallest(?) player in D1 is pretty poetic, man.
  14. As someone from New Jersey, if you told me FDU OR Princeton would have more wins in March Madness this year than Rutgers, I'd say no shot. If you told me both of them would, I'd say you were either writing a crappy episode of the Sopranos or hallucinating. I'm not complaining. Only one way tonight can get better basketball wise
  15. His body language was so bad on the court, particularly from 8 min left in the second half on. They basically were letting him get space and targeting him when they had the ball for a few possessions time, could see him fold in real time
  16. Enjoying the fact Mason Gillis took this L in his "homecoming" game
  17. Holy mother of God... I didn't let myself believe it until .6 seconds left
  18. I'm surprised we're not hearing more about Fardaws Aimaq, highest ranking C/PF in the portal according to 247 from TTU. Put up pretty good numbers. Maybe when the season is over talk will heat up.
  19. Geez so it won't be until well after 10pm in all likelihood. I may be an old geezer by now but that's awfully late to start a game. Hope the team is dialed in this week and staff has put a lot of thought into the routine for the week. Pumped about this bracket. Let's go IU!!!!!
  20. I don't know a whole lot about Houston aside from the fact they prioritize offensive rebounding vs transition defense. I don't think it's a great match up at all for us, but they're definitely not invincible. It's going to be tough to beat any 1 seed so I'm not mad about the draw. I am concerned about getting past Miami
  21. How do we match up with Miami?
  22. Bates has not been very productive this year, but it's nice to see him building some momentum the past few games. Hope it carries over into the tournament, we are a much better team when he gets going. If he puts in a lot of work this offseason and plays up to his potential next year, he could surprise a lot of us. It doesn't surprise me that Race, Trey and Kopp have stretches for a few games where they play well and other stretches where they either don't do much or play poorly. What we really need, is for Kopp to let it rip when he is open. Not sure why he is so hesitant lately, but it is hurting us. We can't win in March without at least 1 (ideally 2) of those 3 contributing a solid performance along with TJD and JHS. When JHS isn't on, we have such a hard time being competitive. I get that college is full of streaky players but going 5+ minute stretches without points this time of year will be what does us in come the tournament. It is great that we have come back so many times this year, but today shows what happens when its too little, too late. We have to find ways to avoid those long scoring droughts, whether its feeding TJD, JHS in the mid-range, finding an open Trey/Kopp/Bates on the perimeter, or trying to draw a foul and get to the line. We really, really, really miss XJ in these instances. Will always wonder "what if..." about his injury this year. I personally like Reneau more than Race, but I won't complain about how the minutes are being split right now for the most part. That pic of JG on the bench, makes me think he is gone in the offseason. Wish him the best on his next chapter, wherever it is, if it comes to that... Don't understand how people are griping over Woodson at this point. This being year 2, the progress is obvious. I hope we can play tough and smart and get to the S16 (or further), load up in the portal, and keep getting this program back on the right track.
  23. Billing TJD as a point center is a little funny, but I'll allow...
