  1. Yogi averaged 7.6 points, 4.1 assists, 2.1 turnovers. I highly doubt he will have that kind of season.
  2. Well Cupps won't have two All-Americans to play with like Yogi did. And Yogi was pretty damned good his freshman year in his role.
  3. Fan club? No. But we also don't have a 7-4 dude to help Cupps out as he's adjusting to the game. And honestly, we don't have a player development coach quite on the level of Painter. Can Cupps be that good in his first year? I guess so. I wouldn't bank on it if I'm the staff. I don't know if it's just blind fandom or arrogance as a fanbase, but to believe we only need 3 dudes to handle the ball is ridiculous. The thought we shouldn't go get another ball handler because of a freshman is ridiculous. It's easy to have a freshman be a ball handler when you have another really really good player on the floor, but next year we won't have that. Maybe the year after we will.
  4. If Cupps is playing 10-15 minutes, then we are probably NIT bound. We need something more reliable than a lowly rated freshman and Gallo as a secondary ball handler.
  5. And I'm saying Cupps should be 3rd on the depth chart. There are PGs in the portal. Get one. Get a wing. Get a big man.
  6. Nope no way possible to find minutes when there will only be 2 PGs on the roster. Man that worked great this past season didn't it?
  7. Just because you have it knocked away, doesn't mean you're turning it over.
  8. How do we not have the monies for another guard? Are we just guaranteeing Cupps 10mpg to spell Johnson? How about instead we go get a vet who can do that while Cupps improves?
  9. And still consistently had the ball knocked away from him. If he's back to being our secondary ball handler, we are in trouble. He needs to be 3rd. 4th preferably. We need another point guard. I don't want to rely on Cupps either. And if Cupps is only playing a few minutes a game, then Gallo is our 2nd ball handlers for majority of the game. That's a problem.
  10. I consider it "unbiased recognition."
  11. It definitely helps having a 9 foot tall statue in the post. But don't tell Purdue fans... His size has literally nothing to do with his play. Skill only.
  12. That isn't even close to enough. We have no idea if Cupps will even be ready to give any meaningful minutes and Gallo doesn't need to be in any conversation as a lead ball handler. I'd rather not watch him get his pocket picked multiple times a game next year.
  13. Shot 32% from 3 on 5.6 attempts and 81.5% from the FT line on 3.8 attempts. I know IU won't go after him... But he'd be a hell of a get I think.
  14. The one guard Woodson and SHOULD be going after.
  15. Went from 14-17(7-13) to 23-14(10-10) in his two seasons. Went to their first NCAAT since 2011(would have been 2020 obviously but that season got cut short of course). And first NCAAT win since 2001.
  16. Maybe there was a well traveled milk man?
  17. Well he was successful at PSU.. I don't see how he won't be at ND in a pathetic conference like the ACC.
  18. Loyer as a freshman: 11ppg, 2.4 apg, 32.6% on 5.2 attempts from 3, Kennard: 11.8 ppg, 1.5 apg, 32% on 4.8 attempts from 3 I'm not saying Loyer will be a lottery pick after next season, but Kennard was a "horrible shooter" as a freshman. He shot 43.8% from 3 on 5.4 attempts his Sophomore year. I'd say Loyer will probably be around 40% as well from 3 next year. Maybe not average 20 like Kennard, but can average 15.
  19. If Micah Shrewsberry leaves... PSU will struggle.. if not.. theyll be tough. They were supposed to suck this year.
  20. Win it all? Probably not. Reach the 2nd weekend? Absolutely. Loyer could be Purdue's right handed Luke Kennard. Painter is a good coach. Without Edey, obviously the style they played will change. So they'll be fine. They have less questions than we do going into next season... But I'm still optimistic about what we have and what we could get. But most of my optimism is set in a good 2024-2025 season and not a good 2023-2024 season.
  21. So we should know who is transferring out by next week probably? Got a feeling about Duncomb, Bates and Geronimo... And I'm fine with all 3 leaving personally.
  22. Well yea that's obviously not a great thing. And I don't expect them to ever be Oladipos on the defensive end. Definitely seems that a lot of Purdue fans want a style change. Obviously offensively Smith and Loyer can be really good in college. There is no doubt about that. But it's definitely some sorta irrational bias to believe they won't be a good backcourt. Hell at some point you have to take a step back from your own fandom to realize that Indiana's players aren't the only guys that can improve... And considering the amount of terrible guessing around here when it came to Purdue to begin the season.... Obviously the backcourt had it's flaws, and many hidden because of the freaking giant down low, but all things to grow on. For whatever reason, those two freshmen guards were more ready than any our freshman guard not named JHS. And Gunn has a lot of potential as a 3 and D guy in college. So as Stuhoo was saying, Gunn hasn't played a lot and has a ton to work on. Smith/Loyer have played a ton, and should know what to work on. Mainly defense.
  23. I Micah Shrewsberry would be pretty dumb to not take the Notre Dame job. Staying at Penn State is just wanting to waste your career away.
  24. I'm assuming Hulls. Which would allow him on court/practice coaching right?
