It’s important to distinguish between rumor & conjecture - there has been a lot of conjecture surrounding other candidates, but have there been rumors relative anyone other than BS?

There is no guarantee of greatness, but there are those who are on an upward trajectory with the potential for greatness, & then there are those that have shown consistently for years that they are not great. I’d rather not settle for known good, but never great.

Cronin has shown us what he could be. He could be solid, high floor. Good for you though, lower expectations leads to less disappointment…

Better than terrible <> Great. Good is the enemy of great. Hire someone that has proven they’ll be good & that’s what we’ll be. IU should be GREAT.

Their “crappy” bball program is in a better place than ours, so I’d say they have outdone us, maybe we can learn something…

Which is EXACTLY why no one should conclude that a smart hire will be made this time with the same people in place. Buckner , schmuckner, the same team is making this call…

Everyone better says, no, we don’t want to take a chance on an up and comer. They’ll rationalize we need someone to get us over the hump for the next 5-6 years, become consistent, then make a “big hire”, basically repeat what they tried to do with Woody.

Checking back in to see if @RoadToZion, @JerryYeagley23, @Chris007, @ap2345 have heard from their sources that the BS deal is dead or if things have gone silent everywhere?

Unless it’s another miscalculation from Dolson. Happened last time, allegedly. Other possibility is Dolson rounding up money, getting approval, telling people “I think we can get him”, “we’re flying to meet & give him an offer”, etc. & by the time it makes it to folks like JY, Chris, RTZ etc, it’s morphed into “all but a done deal”.

Agreed. He has known this day would come, for at least a year, the longer this drags out the more likely it indicates reluctance & that he or others need convincing. I’m an admitted skeptic & hope I’m wrong, but if he’s coming, I think the deal is already done. This is possible, but imo, unlikely. The longer it drags on, the less likely. The good news is, that we’ll know well before the season is over, giving plenty of time to pursue other options.

What about ISU made it a bad fit? Do the same conditions exist at IU?

What happened at Iowa St, I didn’t follow closely, but under .500? Imo, the #1 criteria for our next coach is no failures, firings, etc at other jobs. To me, major red flag.

Those are great bottles, but to say you’ll never need to buy anything else? I’ve really screwed up then, I have over 90 open bottles…

Woodson isn’t the main reason, maybe not top 3 or 4 Trent is going to IU. Watching the recruiting approaches between Woodson & Painter was eye opening to say the least. At the final in-home, which happened on consecutive days, Painter & staff were there for over 2.5 hours. The following day Woodson & staff were there for under an hour. If it was about the coach, Trent would be a Boiler, & his parents LOVE Matt P. BTW, Matt(Trent’s dad) shared some texts from Painter after Trent let them know it would be IU - all class.

That tracks with our recent history. Woodson strikes out in the portal, decides he’s just not up to it , & leaves us twisting in the wind with few or no options that far into the summer as a final fu to us non-true fans. If there is any truth to the “plan” laid out here, everyone involved should be fired. So stupid…

Decent player is definitely subjective. Let’s make a wager on how the team does next year instead. Easier to quantify.

Woodson couldn’t get 2 decent players coming off of last year but will get 5-6 this year. Highly unlikely…

Screams confidence in the new guy’s ability, to have to create a position to help him understand the rules & introduce people. I hope they are splitting 1 salary...
