I know an acquaintance of Thad’s, & Thad has admitted he doesn’t have the energy he used to coach with, I wondered to myself if that means just physical fatigue or that their passion for coaching has diminished, which is a danger for someone that has left coaching voluntarily because they wanted, let’s say, an executive position or something.

I do like how it seems someone is floating names out there, almost like they’re providing distractions from what’s really going on, but that almost seems too competent for the IU Athletic Dept. I’ve grown accustomed to.

If it’s not BS, it likely never was. Not sure I buy that he’d run away from something he really wants to do, with 10’s of millions on the line, because people were leaking info. Yeah, it sucks & would be aggravating, but what does it affect or change once the announcement is made? Someone will have to help convince me why that would torpedo his future…

This has all of the trappings of “the telephone game”. SD keeps in contact with BS, & of course BS will listen, because who wouldn’t when $100 million is being thrown around, not to mention uncertainty with C’s ownership. So SD reaches out to the money folks, (paraphrasing, obviously) “we need $ for new coach, can we count on you? Donors are told who, & SD expresses that he thinks we can get him, & the back & forth with BS leads to contract details & maybe even a formal offer, which as it makes its way to our message board becomes “we got him”. I’m not throwing rocks at anyone sharing stuff here, as I don’t doubt what they’ve been told, but I can’t imagine people that REALLY know what’s going on would be sharing as much. I think there is a chance that we get him, but would be shocked if it’s imminent as some have indicated here. I’d LOVE to be wrong…. All that said, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the rumors & appreciate people sharing what they’ve heard. Except for whoever floated the Mark Turgeon rumor, screw that guy. ;)

Those that want IU to be good would love a Cronin hire. Those that want IU to be great, not so much.
