Turgeon makes more sense than some want to believe. All of the timelines make sense, regarding someone not currently coaching. From Dolson’s perspective, if he struck out on all of the big names, which is most likely considering how it went last year for UL, UK, Turgeon is the safest candidate compared with most others being discussed. Another bridge hire to get IU consistently winning again(albeit at mediocre levels) & save Dolson from missing or having high risk hires like Beard, Wade, McCollum, etc fail miserably on or off the court. I think it will be AWFUL if it happens, but considering all things it’s not all that unlikely imo. I’ll be devastated but not shocked.

He probably is the bottom line backup, but maybe he’s getting floated out there so people get excited, or at the very least relieved, when McCollum is announced

Agreed about the Donovan concerns, how much zeal would he have for the job. My hope would be he could assemble a rock star staff, seems like it would be pretty enticing to work for him for a few years & put yourself in position to get this or another great job…

I haven’t kept up with what he’s been up to, is he working in basketball or a job that has prepared him for a role like that?
