So more of a football issue than BB.

School earn a point for good academic standing and 1 for them staying at the institution, so a transfer in good standing costs the school 1of 2 points
-
Not sure if already mentioned but with the new transfer rule, the college APR is going to need to be seriosly tweaked. The APR is calculated as follows: Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate. In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability. Teams must earn a four-year average APR of 930 to compete in championships. So a team of 13 scholarship players with everyone staying academically eligible and 2 players transferring scores a 923. If teams are recruiting well, I can easily see an average of 2 players per season leaving to get more PT. IU has had 1 at the moment, but there are at least 4 players I could see considering it within the next calendar year and that doesn't even account for TJD leaving for the NBA. They should just count transfers in good academic standing as 1 of 1 instead of 1of 2 points. Transferring in good standing to another academic institution is not a failure, it's a player choice.

Not really talking just you, as it has been oft repeated, but the talk of Rob Phin getting his stroke back assumes he ever had it, heck, even Fife talked about it. I like him as a player but he has never been even an adequate shooter as a guard from 2, 3, or FT's. I think he has value, but right now his three yr history, doesn't bode well for ever becoming an outside threat.

My expectations...
-
This is the final puzzle piece that they should be doing everything to pry away from the East coast. He and TJD being able to guard the middle and, if TJD develops an outside shot with CMW, interchangeably stepping out and hit a long 2 or 3, would be a floor spacing delight. These highlights are mouthwatering. But I must say against some summer rec ball level defensive efforts. Strangley not a peep on what he is thinking since entering the portal over a month ago. I mean no where, no tweets, no articles. Whatever he is doing or thinking is on lockdown.

Any of Tre Mitchell, Jabari Smith or Efton Reid and my expectations for next season would become unrealistically optimistic.
-
And yet he was nothing more than a bit player his first 2 seasons and then just a complementary one as a Jr and Sr. Point is there are only 200 player minutes per game and it isn't a shame that 2 moderately recruited guys, as Fr and So, are 3rd or 4th off bench minutes guys. Some of my favorite Hoosiers all time were that early.
-
Leal and Galloway were 3 star #150ish recruits. At high major programs those should be spot minute guys as freshman and sophmores. Those guys are Brian Evans, Matt Nover, Roderick Wilmont, hell they are Dane Fife. You need those guys on a team. They are harder to keep happy with the transfer portal being so available, but if they are Hoosiers for life they will carve out their deserved space.

So his IMG teammate Efton Reid was set to announce between FSU, OSU LSU. And Pitt last Thur. He suddenly postponed his decision with no explanation Just my own thought, but maybe it's something or nothing.
-
I am hoping that they get a player with at least 2 yrs eligibility left, unless it is some athletic 6'7"+ lights out shooting stud, of which, I don't see in the portal, currently.

Yeah dude is old now. Probably does nothing but spend all his time manicuring his lawn... ...or maybe not.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

More along these lines. -
Not trying to shoot the messenger, but an academic professor trying to remark about a players on court/field personality is about as useless as someone attempting to predict what kind of neighbor Ric Flair would be. Who would ever have met John Stockton, Isaiah Thomas, or Larry Bird and thought this dude is one of the most intense competitors in NBA history. Off court personality can belie a players on court intensity.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Found this: GENERAL RULE Non-coaching staff members with sport-specific responsibilities (e.g., administrative assistants, directors of operations, quality control personnel, directors of player development, video coordinators, assistant/associate athletics directors for specific sports), do not have to be included in the institution’s coaching limitations, provided they are not identified as coaches and do not engage in any coaching activities, on-court or on-field activities (e.g., shagging balls, assisting with drills, throwing batting practice, signaling in plays at the direction of a coaching staff member), off-campus recruiting activities or scouting of opponents. -
You seem upset.

Really???? Maybe you aren't looking hard enough.

Must... resist...urge!

Feel like him waiting this long indicates that he was made aware there would be little PT available for him. I am guessing there is/are move(s) coming that would make him want to finish elsewhere. Wish him luck.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

I believe Quinn Buckner and Scott Dolson both steered clear of Scott Drew because of past indiscretions, so the last thing they are going to allow is a 3rd assistant to come in and blow up the program. If he comes here it will be because he can coach and he can recruit, not to be a bag man. If he understands and has an ability to deal with some of the slimier creatures of the basketball circuits without creating violations, all that much better. Time to start 21st century recruiting. Hell, even the Amish now use cellphones. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
iu eyedoc replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So what does everyone think CMW will be rockin' on the sidelines? Does he go with the now popular casual athletic look? Classic Mike Woodson suit and tie? Does he bring back the Bobby Knight red sweater? Or the classic Bobby Knight? -

So Mike, I have a few pointers for you that may help you adjust to college coaching. I generally don't bother to interact with the players, preferring to let team managers teach shooting and run most drills, am not big on even talking to the players personally about expectations, and think offense is really kinda overrated. Hope this helps. Thoughts? -
I too delegated some tasks. I told the wife I was tired of mowing the grass and washing the cars and that I had decided those were now her jobs and I would be happy to give her constructive feedback once she finished. Seems I will be hitting up Mike Roberts to see if he has a second couch to crash for an undetermined time.
