Before these photos were taken ...
McRobbie: "Again, who is this young lady with whom I'll be in the photograph?"
IU PR person: "Lilly King."
McRobbie: "And who exactly is that?"
IU PR person: "She's on the swim team. Won an Olympic gold medal. Won a bunch of NCAA titles. She's one of the greatest athletes in IU history."
McRobbie: "We have a team of swimmers?"
Duke's gonna have to go the rest of the way on skill, because they used all their luck in this game. (Although with their skill, that won't be a bad thing).
Right after Crean was fired, Wichita played Dayton in the NCAA tourney. I joked that the winning coach would get the IU job. ... Turns out it was the losing coach.
Huge swing against Iowa right there. They had cut the lead to 9, forced a UT mess and grabbed the rebound -- only to lose it out of bounds. UT gets the ball back, scores. Iowa goes down, misses. UT scores again. ... From a chance to cut it to 6 or 7 to down 13 in about a minute. ... Being lazy going after rebounds kills you. GRAB THE BALL! That's hurt us countless times this season.
Plus, they're 10 years apart. A lot of brothers have a best-friend type relationship. I never got that implication from those two. I have no doubt they love each other, but I never got the feeling they're talk-to-each-other-every-day kinda close.
Hookers, strippers and bribes. Oh, my. ... Slick Rick and Nick Saban at the same school. Oh, my.
(Isn't he still under a show-cause penalty? ... If these rumors have any legs, 'Bama must feel the NCAA will allow this)
BTW, if Ricky really intends to coach again, he HAS to go to Vegas. That's too perfect of a fit!
I don't want to say Devonte can be a star, but he could be really good if he just stayed under control. The crazy dribbling, crazy passes and (sometimes) crazy shots are -- well, crazy. ... So much ability ...
Not sure what the shot-clock situation was, but Al was so wide-open from the 3 line (and he hasn't been hitting all day), he should've driven and stopped and popped a 8-10 footer.
Dakich again with the story that HE would tell Knight to work the refs. Honestly, does anybody really believe that Knight needed any prodding to work the officials? ... Well, except Dakich.
Sometimes, it seems instead of our guys thinking: "I'm gonna go to the hoop, make a confident, strong move and get two points" ... They subconsciously think: "I'm gonna fly to the hoop out of control, fling it up there and pray it goes in."
Yes. I did mean .7 seconds. And you can catch in shoot if you're in the act. If you're in motion, catch the ball where you would release it and let it fly, it can be done. But you cannot be flat-footed, catch the ball and take a jump shot in .6 seconds.
Just to take the human element out of it (as far as starting the clock the instant the ball is touched), there should be a rule that if there's .7 of a second or less left, the only thing you can do is tip the ball. You cannot catch and shoot the ball in .6 seconds. It's not humanly possible.
