  1. I am not debating the seriousness of SMU. They get to say **** you for a different reason. If I am a university president that wants to go to a private school in Texas, I am going to SMU. But most of these presidents are in it for prestige and as much as I hate UT, it is more prestigious.
  2. UT has **** you money from their donors and oil well royalties. SMU is definitely a step in the wrong direction for a president. I can’t imagine that Dolson would be willing to take the risk.
  3. I guess we still have some time before we need to worry about SkyNet.
  4. He is one of the most underrated musicians out there. I think that listening to Frank Zappa for the first time is like the first time people listen to OK Computer or Kid A. The context of what music sounded like around that time doesn’t matter. When you hear it, you just know it is different and amazing.
  5. I just remember my friend asking me if I have ever heard Frank Zappa. He was pretty shocked when I told him that my dad owns many Frank Zappa albums and Apostrophe is how I learned not to eat yellow snow.
  6. I wish I could have taken both of them, but I screwed around too long and had to get on that “come to Jesus” path to graduate on time. Any class notes you care to share with the group on Frank Zappa?
  7. I have a friend that took History of Rock, I think Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart may have broken his brain.
  8. Always helpful when you need to find your way home.
  9. I am just hoping when this whole thing is over we aren’t looking at a different Brando scene.
  10. I am glad we made an offer he can’t refuse.
  11. I am pretty sure your first sentence just described parenting. I remember when my first kid was a newborn, I watched Hurt Locker and felt jealous that their job was less stressful than dealing with a baby.
  12. This is when he hires Charlie as his assistant. I am guessing that they are talking to assistant coaches for the job.
  13. Your example is not a contract stipulation. That is a change in his situation, not a change in the contract. Unless the contract guarantees that he will never have to travel more than 500 miles for a game, he doesn’t have a legal leg to stand on.
  14. You clearly don’t understand how contracts work. There has to be something to adjudicate for the court to even look at the contract. He can threaten UCLA all he wants, they are going to laugh at him because their lawyers know he can’t take it to court.
  15. That is correct. Now if UCLA didn’t pay him the agreed Pac12 bonus for winning a Big10 championship, he would absolutely have a justiciable claim.
  16. That isn’t really how contracts work. There is either a material breach of a contract term, in which case the contract is voided, or there isn’t. You don’t just say that you don’t like a contract term and try to use it to modify another portion of the contract.
  17. And just like how you think you have the world solved, you’ll be wrong. I can’t help but notice that you still haven’t responded to @Home Jersey. It is tough when someone brings the receipts.
  18. @AH1971 is 100% NGW. Same irrational confidence, same refusal to respond to posts when someone brings the receipts.
  19. Thanks. Me don’t read so good.
  20. Can you please clarify this? Are you saying that Brad Stevens already has a job lined up, or are you saying that the next coach already has someone for the GM position?
  21. Yeah, it seems a little odd to me that he would all of the sudden sign a contract with a lower buyout clause almost two months after its effective date. The contract does have a provision that he has to notify the university if he begins negotiations with another team. Maybe he signed the contract and then said, “oh, by the way…”
  22. The extension wasn’t signed in January, it was signed on Wednesday. Does anyone else think it is odd that a contract that began in January didn’t get signed until this week?
  23. I don’t think Otz is out of the running. It looks like the contract that was announced back in December wasn’t officially signed until Wednesday this week. There is no new contract from the one that was announced, he just finally signed the contract with the lower buyout.
