Looks like something from the Purdue engineering dept. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

BD to me is a pipe dream. If he comes to IU, yes a game changer. The timing thing with a current NBA coach is always tough, not impossible, but that lifestyle and day to day work difference between the NBA and NCAA is huge.. I think we may need to temper expectations about the coach, at least until Crean is official leaving/fired. Then we can maybe believe any of the insider chatter. Even then, is IU still a top tier job? My answer is that if we are willing to pay them like one, yes. Sorry for rambling, I found the 7 and 7 early today. I am still wondering how this guy would have any kind of scoop on IU in the first place. You never know the connections someone has, but seems odd. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Man, I appreciate the rundown. How close to have a shot at Izzo, I'd never heard that. I would wonder if Bennett turned us down in 2008 would he have interest in 2017. He has an established team and is building something solid there. Same with S. Miller, if we offered him per the previous responder. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with the current admin and the behind the scenes shenanigans.

All I know is I am getting little/no work done and I am having to keep my brick phone on the charger all day. I have to think all of the rumors lie somewhere in the middle of what the insiders are saying, what little is said by media, and our own sleuthing and daydreaming. I do have a question. Years ago when Crean was hired, what was the process, the rumored names, and what were some of the misfires? What did we find was smokescreen and what was true? To me, the Crean hire came out of absolutely nowhere. Did he reach out to us, or did we seek him out? I seem to recall talk of offering Tony Bennett and him turning us down, I thought maybe there was some Pitino talk? My 40+ year old brain is failing me. Help me out, whipper snappers.

I was going to say the same thing. A Des Moines friend of mine said that their fan base is charged up and hopeful that they can handle an Indiana team that, while winning at Ohio State, is still struggling and flat. And, Indiana plays horribly in this tournament and it's been in our backyard since it's inception. Having it in DC means even less fan support... I see a slim chance of IU winning this game, and it could accelerate an announcement, especially if IU does in fact skip the NIT.

I thought same thing, looks like Alford. Maybe he got a couple of "free" car washes for doing it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Dude, people in Evansville do not see themselves as from Kentucky. I have lived in Evansville for 20 years, from Tell City originally, and this is categorically false. There are a lot of Kentucky basketball fans in Evansville just because of the TV coverage, and Kentuckians moving to Indiana bringing their team allegiance is with them, but the people from Evansville do not… I repeat do not… View themselves as Kentuckians. He's better at shooting threes than posting up. Kid gets stuffed and kerfuffled, has a lack of footwork. Not a selling point for big at the next level - everyone can shoot in the league. I've thought for a long time he's not going to be successful in NBA. I think Crean's best developing forwards, not big men. Zeller, Vonleh, Bryant. They are all leaving with little to no real improvement or development. Reason 123,334 why change is a comin'. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Someone needs to explain to me why Alford would be a bad hire as coach. Guy has clearly shown he can recruit and has his guys playing well. Sour grapes, methinks. Stevie shoot a three pointer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I honestly cannot see IU making a change and telling Crean he is gone unless the new coach is a done deal. Why would Glass and Co. risk not getting a home run hire? What if they fire Crean and lose out on all of the desired coaches? I don't see them taking that risk. I would think, even as disastrous as this season has been, that Glass would stand pat or at least wait until the season was over to make a decision. If there is an ounce of truth to the rumor that Crean has already been told he's gone then they already have their guy. We just have to wait until the end of season for it to play out. Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)
Redandyz replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
When I said in "need of work" I meant from the team culture, mental prep/grit/team cohesiveness side. I think he's always struggled with buy-in. Crean for all his faults has brought in some big recruits and under the radar talent. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Rumor has it that "someone" left the UK game in Fred Glass' DVD player last night. Expect a press conference/extension later this week. This rumor has come from a source who goes by "Clappy". Heard it here first. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)
Redandyz replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Can we even afford Donovan? I cannot see him taking half of his 6 mil a year to inherit a program in need of work and the raucous IU fanbase. IU is not going to pay him what he would likely want - though I would be willing to donate to the cause. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

It makes zero sense for Fife to agree to come in for one year only to be relegated to associate head coach. He's an assistant for an elite program as it is - it makes see sense: If Donavan was interested in IU he'd come now and it'd not one year from now. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I have to be happy because IU won. I also have to think a lucky clang of a free throw that took a kind bounce doesn't save Crean. This is a case where the players willed themselves through inept coaching, turnovers, and the pink (slip) elephant in the room. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
