  1. Wonder how long it's been, if ever, IU basketball has been this late in the season and does not have a single recruit committed for the following year. It's truly incredible we are at this point
  2. I agree. Probably career suicide for Dolson if it doesn’t work out but hard to be the AD that will get pinned for this atrocious hire and era of IU basketball. Ask for forgiveness later type of scenario if he can get the right guy
  3. Never made sense why a decision one way or another was not made at the end of the season
  4. Pretty pathetic if that’s true. We’re talking about the guy who was hired with no coaching search and who got a huge extension after Penix made him look better than he was. The future of IU basketball is probably the lowest it’s been since right after Kelvin Sampson and if that’s still better than football that’s sad. The IU athletic department has done a horrendous job with the football and basketball programs over the past 20 years. Most schools can seem to at least be successful at one but IU has done a fantastic job at being consistently bad at both. Congrats to you all, impressive work
  5. We are mortgaging the future on a guy who should have never been the coach over politics. We will miss out on Dusty, Pearl, or whoever other candidates people wanted this year. Buy continuing to support the program, it doesn't hold the people accountable who are making these terrible decisions and will only encourage keeping Woodson around. Seriously, the guy said he would coach into his 70s. What recruit would want to come here and play for a coach that is clueless and has an unstable future. Unbelievable the decision that was made.
  6. No doubt. Woody has already hit his ceiling and that is 1 win in the tourney. He will not have a team better than he had last year the rest of his tenure.
  7. Hope next year gets ugly. Final nail in the coffin for IUBB. Admin doesn’t care about putting out a good product or the fan base. Can’t move on from the 80s
  8. I've wondered the same thing. I'm hoping that if that's the case, it is Nate Oats.
  9. Even if he is leveraging IU and doesn't end up being hired, the consolation prize would be Dusty May. No brainer to move on from Woodson. This isn't the same situation as missing out on Brad Stevens and ending with Mike Woodson. With that being said, I'm really hoping we land BP.
  10. I'm so sick of having Mike Woodson as our head coach. I hated the hire when it was made and I hate it even more now. I'm tired of playing along like it was a good hire when he was brought it. We will never be a serious program as long as he is here. I can't believe bringing him back another year is in the realm of possibilities.
  11. All of these reasons are exactly why it would make zero sense to bring Woodson back. I cannot fathom why this is such a "difficult" decision outside of QB and company wanting to keep their buddy at the helm. Bringing him back to just fire him next year and losing out on guys like Bruce Pearl, Scott Drew, or Dusty May would be inexcusable. They cannot afford to bring him back. He has no future with this program.
  12. I'm done worrying about what is going to happen after the season. Beating a .500 team on the road shouldn't change the outlook for the future of the program. If we have a guy like Bruce Pearl lined up for next year, it shouldn't matter how many games Woodson wins the rest of the season. You make the move. I do think the more games that are won, the more things getting interesting.
  13. It also silences the noise around the speculation of who our next HC would be. Say the rumors are true that we are targeting Bruce Pearl, if Dolson announces that Woody is gone at the end of the year, then the rumors would get out of control and may be a huge distraction for the rest of Auburn's season or whoever we may be targeting. By Dolson saying the plan is to bring Woodson back, it allows him to back channel coaches and negotiate contracts discreetly. To me, this is was it currently going on now.
  14. Woodson is delusional and thinks we are dumb fans who know nothing about basketball. As long as he is the HC, we will never be taken seriously. Can’t wait until we move on from him and I can be optimistic about IU bball again.
  15. Woodson is a bad college basketball coach and this season exposed him for that. Probably not even a top 30 coach in college right now. He's backed by power decision makers in the program, he will sell not having X this season as why it was a failure. If you want an idea of what IU bball will look like next year, take a look a Kenny Payne at Louisville. Prolonging the inevitable
  16. We are really going to have to watch another season of Mike Woodson at IU aren't we...
  17. Pearl seems to have legit interest based on his comments in the media. Who knows if money will work out, but he's been a consistent winner every where he has coached, but has never had the opportunity to coach at a basketball school. That may entice him to leave. He has ties to the state and truly seems to embrace the craziness/love that people in the state of Indiana have for basketball and IU. He coached at ISU back when the IU brand was still enormous. To me, he realizes the sleeping giant IU basketball is. He likely makes you a top 25 team next year and has the personality and intensity we have been missing from our HC. I think Dusty May could be a great coach, but it would be hard to pass up on a Bruce Pearl even if he was only here for 5-6 years.
  18. The media and fans are clearly over the Mike Woodson era. So much bad PR surrounding him. I truly do not see how this can continue for another season without completely alienating the entire fan base.
  19. This just shows how delusional he is. I think when he was first hired he had no idea where the state of IU basketball was and thought that this program was the same program he was a part of in the 70s. It's obvious to most IU fans that he is in way over his head but he does not even seem to notice or care. I think he thought he would come in and dominate college basketball because he spent so much time in the NBA. With that quote it seems like he is accepting no responsibility with how this season has played out. He knows he is untouchable due to his relationship with the higher ups, and it clearly appears that he plans to stay here as long as he wants. I really don't see how this can end in a positive manner for the program or Mike Woodson.
  20. Sean Miller. He would have UofL back in the top 25 before next season starts too with no rebuild.
  21. This is the disappointing reality as an IU bball fan. Pretty unbelievable we are giving him another year. I would feel different about next year if Woodson was 50 and had the time to learn, adapt, and become a good college bball coach. Reality is that he is 65 years old (feels like he is 70+), a very mediocre basketball coach, and at best has 2 years of coaching left in him. I have no confidence in him building a good roster this offseason through the portal when he has not show the ability to do so in 3 years. We have had 1 high-level consistent guard in 3 years under Woody and now people think he will be able to go out and land a bunch of shooters that will open our offense up next year. Highly unlikely. Plenty of good college basketball jobs will open up and will be filled by the names of people we all want and likely would do well at IU. We are taking an enormous risk in bringing him back and praying it works. If fans feel this strongly about him now, I can't imagine what it would be like if things dont go well this offseason or the start of next year. Things could get very ugly. I truly feel bad for Scott Dolson because I feel like he understands a change should be made but does not seem to have the authority to make it even though his job is on the line. Appreciate the info you share regardless.
  22. Wish I could be excited about the win. Feels like a meaningless win that will keep Woodson around another year.
  23. This team is soft and doesn't play hard. This has nothing to do with talent.
  24. I don't see how you can keep him another season. His seat is already getting really hot, fans are getting restless, and I don't see things getting any better this season. There really isn't much optimism going into next season either. There's a chance IU has extreme roster turnover losing up to 8 guys (Ware, Mbako, X, Gallo, Leal, Banks, Gunn, Walker, Sparks) and has 1 recruit committed. You can't go out and get 6+ guys in the portal and expect it to work out. Bad offseason and slow start to next season if you keep him and optics could get really ugly. To me it seems like Dolson and company know the decision (especially after yesterdays game) that has to be made but it will be interesting if they make the move. If they don't fire him I think that says a lot about what their standards of IU basketball are.
  25. Agree, I think one could argue Woody's most talented team he will have at IU was last years team with TJD and JHS. It think the biggest coaching concern with Woody is his in-game management which we can all agree has been pretty poor. To me this is very concerning and doesn't appear that he has any thoughts of changing it as he continues to do it every game. You can't be a poor in game coach and expect to go on deep runs in the tournament unless you have Duke or UK talent.
