I agree. Treys my favorite player on this team but we ask way too much from him. We ask him to guard the other teams best perimeter player and be our best perimeter player on offense which shouldn’t be his role. The three guard lineups last year before Xavier got hurt were my favorite and we’d all be ecstatic if he was our third best guard.

I honestly don’t think we’d get more than a few transfers. I find it hard to believe we’d have an easier time attracting guards nexts year than we did this year after JHS was a first rounder. We are so easy to negatively recruit against now. All you have to do is show people our offense. A good year to me next year is like 20-12 and a first round loss. Are we really in a better spot after that than just letting the new coach start a year early.

Why is it zero? Dusty kept his entire team this year when I’m sure bigger names were calling. Malik would thrive with more space around him and McNeely as a shooter sure fits Dusty’s offense better than whatever Mike runs. I’m not sure Malik stays with Mike another year. Other schools will definitely call and i would listen if i was him

No we would not have their record. We barely could beat army earlier this year. The big ten sucks this year and we’re still not very good. I’m not as sold as dusty as some but you’re looking at him with the worst lens possible and looking at Woodson with only the best which i don’t think is fair. I also prefer scherz but i think dusty can succeed here.

Eh you add johnell who’s an all American along with Reneau and mcneely you have a pretty good core right there. I don’t know if Goldin is good enough for the big ten but transfer portal can get you another big. Think we’d surely be better than this year.

I was watching the pacers last night and Quinn actually brought up what an amazing job Josh Schertz is doing at ISU. He doesn’t usually talk about college basketball during the pacers games. If Quinn can see that maybe he can see Mike isn’t cut out for this or at least that’s what I’m hoping.

I mean Indiana st and FAU would beat us easily. We’re not very good and they’re both top 30 teams. Probably would be similar to the nebraska game

You know the weird thing is we play nothing like his Knicks teams. Those teams were top 5 in 3 point attempts for the 2.5 years he was there and his best year they lead the league. Someone has to ask Mike why his system now is so different than how he said we’d play at his opening press conference and even when he had his most successful season with the Knicks.

I agree with this. Prolonged regular season success is more important to me than one tourney run. Doing it at two schools also helps and it only took him two years for ISU to get back. I’ve seen FAU come out flat very often this year which has me hesitant. The final four is awesome but if he loses to Memphis in the second round are we still having this conversation. Plus Johnell Davis is an all American in a mid major conference and has taken over games at the end. How much of that is good coaching and how much of that is having a player that is just better than everyone else? That i can’t answer.

The thing is if you want to win a title which I think we all do you need to be good at offense and defense. Even though Virginia plays at snails pace the year they won a title they had a top 10 offense. Jay wrights Villanova teams were the similar although slightly faster. They played slow but made a lot of threes and were extremely efficient. Archie was very one sided at Dayton and that works at the mid majors but we need both. I watch a lot of nba so I will say the fast paced spread it out offense is what I’m used to but I just want to see wins honestly.

I love Nate oats and would be shocked if he came here. Saying that the coach I think that has the best shot at creating a nate oats like system is Schertz. He already plays 5 out a lot and they’re at 44 in pace. I really do think he’s going to be a star. Maybe it’s the new shiny toy and that’s why I like him more than May but I’d honestly be very happy if we ended up with schertz as our coach.

New coach gets my cycle of hope started once again. Another year of Woodson is going to cause a real loss of interest for a lot of people. Hated those last Archie and crean years since i ended up rooting for losses to get a new coach

If woody had fland, mcneely, and queen committed I think more people would give him a pass for this year. As it stands we have very little momentum and i wouldn’t be shocked if we have to replace the entire starting 5 of an already bad team. 66 year old Mike Woodson is not the person i trust to go get 5 people out of the transfer portal that are good enough to make a difference. That’s not a recipe for success.

We’re already broken but i don’t think it has to do with firings and more with picking bad coaches. Find a good coach and they’ll be treated like a god

I mean crean went to georgia right after and was terrible even with Anthony edwards there. Mike white has Georgia in a much better spot after two years than crean ever did. I appreciate some of the fun teams Crean had but just because we suck now doesn't mean Crean should still be coach.

I wish this were the case but they actually have guards this year. Braden smith is very good and lance jones was a big pickup. I think they have 7 players or something shooting 35% or higher from 3. I do think an athletic team can give them problems but they've beaten everyone this year. I think this is probably their best chance to win one.

Schertz has proven he can coach championship level offense. You need a top 25 kenpom offense and defense to win a title. He’s at 11 on offense and 82 or something last time i checked. For me Schertz>May. I think with better athletes the defense is improved. Robbie Avila is awesome but idk how much rim protection he’s providing and swopes is undersized. I’ve also seen him play his starters the entire second half in multiple games when they had to pull out a win. He’s turned around two programs now. Kids are going to love playing in his offense. I would be perfectly happy with Schertz as our coach since i doubt we get one of the big names. Also he can use the transfer portal. Three out of the five starters were transfers and have been much better since joining ISU. Only took him two years to rebuild. With our resources I’d expect him to be great.

If we were KU or UNC we would’ve denied everything and probably would’ve had a national title with Sampson as coach

If I’m 66 year old Mike Woodson at the end of the year do I really want to try and rebuild this team after a horrible year and try and recruit 8 new players or whatever. I personally wouldn’t. I think everyone would be happiest if he decided to retire. I’m sure being booed by the college he loves like last game couldn’t have been enjoyable and it’ll only be worse this year. Retire, be a program ambassador and go to all the games, and enjoy your life Mike.

I’ve watched a decent amount of FAU. I worry they have johnell Davis who is just flat out way better than anyone on the court and has won them games this year. I honestly don’t really care about postseason success. Single elimination tourneys can be flukey and if dusty lost that one point game to Memphis in the second round last year are we even having this convo. Danny Hurley never even made it past the round of 32 before he got to uconn. But like the last 3 hires I’ll be optimistic and hope it works out but I don’t think dusty is the slam dunk we need him to be.
