I feel like I’m watching an Archie Miller coached offense. No movement, a shot that’s not even close to going in, a lot of standing.

The thing is for all the talk about “how good we are shooting from the perimeter.” I think Lamar really is the one making the shots outside the perimeter. Dorn I guess too when he was on that hot streak. But I feel like the way the announcers talk about our 3 pt making it just seem we truly are hitting them outside of a guy and a player getting hot for a game or 2

No way he gets a big as bad of a Big 10 style fit as Reed Bailey for next season. For the $$$. We might not get as good of a shooter as Lamar but the bar I feel like it pretty low to not clear to have a better portal this off season. DeVries would truly have to fumble to mess up this bad again.

I think Scott will do everything in his power to make it work. He tried doing this stuff with Woody but he didn’t really accept the help. I mean if DeVries wants to be a coach at Indiana University I would welcome all kinds of help. I mean it’s not like his assistant sat the world on fire last portal. It’s not like any of them are helping the last 10 minutes of games. Not helping our defense being one of the worst in the nation since the start of ‘26 calendar year. A team that got 1 offensive board last year. I think yes some micro managing might happen. Honestly, DeVries might want the help.

I kind of seeing this direction as well. We have little to no momentum right now for the basketball program. I’m guessing Scott will do everything he can to get this team to be at least 5x better than this team. I think Scott is going to make Darian make some uncomfortable cuts (creaming) to personnel and players. I think Scott will get someone to help him coach and probably make him get another recruiter. I think if DeVries can’t do better with the resources and help provided then he probably gets the vote of confidence and a little more resources to try to figure it out.

I can’t imagine DeVries can do any worse than what he did in the portal last year. Reed Bailey…. No shot we get someone 1/2 as bad as him. Like this guy is worse than folding pocket aces in black jack. Tucker…. We will get someone better and more in Big 10 shape. This guys athleticism is woof. Especially at what we think he’s approximately getting paid Conerway… He can be good but he’s also kinda like Myles Rice. You don’t know really what you’ll get. I don’t know if he’s a top 10 big 10 point guard. Lamar… only one thats hard to replace but at the same time If we don’t have 3 15+ ppg scorers leaning so hard on one guy is going to lead us into a loop of this mess. Alexis… A true backup big for a good Big 10 team. I believe he’s improved leaps and bounds but his size truly limits him. I feel like these kinds of players are easier to identify. Enright… A hustle guy. He’s limited but will work his butt off. A true bench guy that’s being thrown in to start. If we had a guy like this team on the bench as our 9/10 man we would be a top 4th of the conference team. As for everyone else on the roster that we got in the portal. If they can’t make the rotation on this team I would be concerned. I’m guessing people will transfer out because this era of basketball some always do but if we have 6-8 open scholarships for the portal I can’t possibly imagine getting players worse than what we got. I just want to see a clear path. I want some kind of foundation, more athleticism, size, multiple shot creators and an elite PG.
